Seoul Mayor Apologizes for Itaewon Crush Disaster

The Seoul mayor was not even in the city when the tragedy occurred, but nevertheless I would not be surprised if the political opposition demands that he resign:

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon apologized Tuesday over the Halloween crowd crush that killed at least 156 people.

“As the mayor of Seoul who is responsible for the lives and safety of citizens, I feel infinite responsibility for the accident and express my deepest apologies,” Oh said in a tearful voice during a news conference at his office.

“The Seoul city government will do its best to mobilize all its administrative power until all funeral procedures are completed and the bereaved families, the injured and all citizens who feel sorrow from this accident can return to their daily lives.”

Number one rule of politics is never apologize. The apology is latched onto as both evidence and a confession of guilt. It also signals weakness opening one up to further attack. This guy is politically done.

Mr. Oh increased spending on public safety for the rich Gangnam district, but for the rest of Seoul? He cut the budget by almost 7%.

No wonder the Trumpsters here love this party.

One of Yoon’s ministers who were in charge of public safety in Seoul, couldn’t answer a single question from the press. Any possibility he didn’t know what he was doing?

Doesn’t look good for the American puppet party.

This guy is politically done.

On the contrary.

While public opinion and the media are going after the Yongsan-gu Mayor and the Minister of the Interior and Safety for their “we are not responsible, we did everything we can, this was not a official festival so we did not need to take extra measures” statements, the police for allegedly knowing that they were going to be a lot of people and not doing anything about it, and the Prime Minister for joking during a press conference about the tragedy with the foreign media, the Seoul Mayor to this day, remains pretty much untouched.

Ok so the DPK is calling for his resignation but that is nothing compared to the heavy flak that the above mentioned persons/organization are going through right now.

The guy IMO made the right move and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seoul Mayor emerges from this tragedy and its aftermath more or less unscathed.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council after his JCS confirmed North Korea’s missile launches. He canceled the planned visit to Itaewon, to discuss “a grave national emergency”.

What do you think guys, great timing or what, right? Let’s see if this strategy will work to avert attention away from Itaewon and back onto North Korea.
