President Yoon Says Government Will Crackdown on KCTU Violence and Extortion at Construction Sites

It is pretty clear that the Yoon administration has declared war on the violent and pro-North Korean KCTU. Here is the latest front he has opened up on them:

Eradicating illegal practices at construction sites has been a central part of labor reform, one of the Yoon administration’s top three areas of reform along with education and pensions, the presidential office said.

Since late last year, the land ministry has run a designated team to respond to violence at construction sites while the police have operated a 200-day special crackdown period, it added.

The government’s hard-line stance comes as construction unions affiliated with the country’s two major umbrella labor organizations — the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions — have been accused of coercing employers to hire their union members for construction jobs.

“Militant labor unions with vested rights continue to overtly carry out illegal actions at construction sites, such as demanding money and goods, forcing hiring and obstructing construction,” Yoon said during the Cabinet meeting.

“As a result, workers are losing their jobs and construction is being poorly done. The damage is being passed on to the people, with delays in the opening of new elementary schools and move-ins to new apartments,” he said.

You can read more at the link, but if the KCTU loses its government subsidies and has to give up their extortion practices this is going to greatly hinder them financially. On top of that the KCTU is being investigated for their part in a North Korea spy ring by the government.

Instead of concentrating on improving the horrid working conditions and low wages faced by many workers who wouldn’t be joining such unions in the first place if they were treated right, our Yoonies are concentrating on attacking those ‘red commies’. How convenient. How is it that he expects that after expanding the working hours to an insane 68 hours per week, and not have anyone in Korea complain?
Instead of treating Korean people as working robots, how about cracking down on the companies that routinely violate labor rights? The news% today is all about another record-low average fertility rate of 0.78 for the country – by far the lowest rate in the world. This year saw another record number of daycare and preschool closings, as the number of children in the country crashed. What do the Yoonies expect when people just don’t have the time, the energy, and the basic human rights to reproduce, when they are insisting on taking Korea back to the 1980’s era – not too unsimilar to their mentors – the right-wing Japanese government of today.

Speaking of mentors, it’s looking more and more like Yoon’s mentor is a self-proclaimed shaman.

Yoon admitted that he knew this quack priest, but insists that he is not his mentor…. hmmmm…. There is more smoke rising when Yoon engages in using the defamation charges to shut down oppositions and the media who are reporting on this story.

I’m guessing you haven’t been to a Korean factory. The working conditions are not “horrid”.

There are all sorts of laws and constant inspections to ensure they are not horrid.

Not sure where you get your working hours. It is currently limited to 52 hours per week. Sadly, this limits people who want to work more.

Always good to see government put limits on how much money people can make. We wouldn’t want hard workers to get ahead.

As for fertility, low fertility and fewer people is good for korea for reasons i have often stated..

CH, the CCP hillbillies’ bots only post what their masters hand them to post. Most have never actually worked, and have a lower social standing than the folks who change the port-a-potty honey buckets at their work/reeducation camp.

But to be frank, I know nothing about the Korean workplace and how much Korean employers pay their workers, as you can figure out from my previous comments.

I posted my previous comment because setnaffa told me todo so since he has zero consideration and respect when it comes to worker’s rights.

Yoon’s mentor is a self-proclaimed shaman.

That shaman is rumored to have convinced Yoon not to pay respect to the late Queen Elizabeth 2 when she laid in state.

As a result, Yoon is rumored to have drunken heavily the day before, so that he would wake up late, delay the takeoff of ROKAF 1, and arrive in London late in the afternoon so that he can miss paying his respects.

If the above and the other rumors such as the shaman convincing Yoon to not move into the Blue House are true, then yeah there is the potential of another Choe Soonsil type issue and we can all guess what they will lead to.

That and potential legal issues with his wife, of course.
