South Korea to Move Forward with Reestablishing Military Intelligence Sharing Deal with Japan
|With North Korea’s increasing belligerence it only makes sense to tighten military cooperation with Japan:
The defense ministry initiated the process to normalize a military intelligence-sharing deal with Japan on Friday, following a summit agreement between the leaders of both countries the previous day.
The defense ministry said it sent a letter to the foreign ministry requesting measures to normalize the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA).
The foreign ministry is soon expected to send an official letter to its Japanese counterpart in response, officials said.
On Thursday, President Yoon Suk Yeol said he agreed to “completely normalize” the military pact during his summit with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo as part of efforts to better respond to North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.

Well, it was wither them or the butchers in Beijing…
It’s disgusting yet it’s still satisfying to see the Korean PM, get on his knees and grovel in front of Japan’s Prime Minister. Korea still owes us a big apology for the lies claiming the ‘forced labor’ issues, and the radar incident in 2018. There’s also the issue of Korea spreading of false history in their textbooks with their lies that Japan colonized Korea and took their women as comfort women. Korean PM still has not laid out how he is going to rectify that situation, as well as the matter of Korea’s illegal occupation of the Takeshima Islands. Another matter is Korea’s falsification of the foods grown in the Fukushima region, painting them as unsafe to eat, to illegally block the imports. If Korea wants help from Japan, they better resolve all these issues, or else they will continue to suffer the economic and political consequences. Korea will not like Japan’s wrath.
Korea needs to get their head out of the past and move forward.
