Pentagon Bans Drag Shows on U.S. Military Bases

The way I look at it is if strippers are not allowed to perform on base then it makes sense drag shows shouldn’t either:

President Joe Biden’s administration has stopped U.S. military bases from hosting drag shows after criticism from some Republicans, amid a broader push in conservative-led states targeting LGBTQ+ celebrations.

Hosting drag shows is “inconsistent with regulations regarding the use of (Defense Department) resources,” said Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh in a statement Thursday.

At least one show in the U.S. was canceled as a result. Organizers of an event at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada canceled a drag show timed to Pride Month, which began Thursday, according to a Facebook post quoted by Fox News. A drag show that was scheduled for June 17 at the Brit Bar at Ramstein Air Base in Germany was also canceled.

I am glad, but pretty surprised. Wish they’d done this years ago.
We weren’t able to stop the drag show at our last base.

Looking at the picture, the irony is this new policy was announced by one of the least convincing drag queens ever seen.

Funny CH. LOL
A few years back, our base (and my spouse, the installation commander at the time) received much hate mail about an upcoming drag show at the club (he was unaware of until the community brought it to his attention). He went to the Jag, and then all the way up to the 4 star (think it was the chief of staff). He was told they absolutely could do nothing. Furthermore, if he had ever attended any other private event at the club like “Hispanic appreciation day” or so forth, he was legally required to attend the (drag show) event. Fortunately he never had…imagine the photos!

Side note: An interesting fly in the ointment, from working with the coordinator of the event (a gay active duty airman…it was necessary as he was getting death threats), found out that the gay community is not all supportive of the trans “community”. Although he was organizing the event he said a lot of the gay community had reservations about this new group and their intentions. Even he was suspect of the trans folks.
