Here’s a KBS documentary with English subtitles, that tells the story of how the South Korean dictatorship governments from 1950’s to 1980’s that sold 200,000+ Korean children, illegally selling them off to western Europe and America without the consent of their existing Korean parents. The corrupt right-wing conservative Korean governments during those times, colluded with many of the American adoption agencies which had high quotas to meet selling children.
My friend’s next question is, can you buy transgender children?
Or is that just an American thing?

A couple of interesting events.
I know someone in America, 31, high-speed.
Died of a heart attack.
No drugs or alcohol in his system. Not overweight. In good health.
His wife and antivaxxers blame the vaccine. Provaxxers blame his high stress job.
You see 31 year-olds go to war or Mexican jail and they don’t have heart attacks. Healthy 32 year-olds don’t have heart attacks.
An early-20s guy in Korea who had confirmed heart scarring after the vax got tunnel vision last month. He took an ambulance to the hospital where he had a heart attack. He returned home and was scared. He has been out of contact since 6/20. Unclear what happened to him.
These events don’t mean muvh in themselves (except my whole life, I have never heard of an under-30 having a heart attack) but they are datapoints to watch.
Perhaps this is an outlier but two events like this gets my attention.
Anybody else know of any under-40s who had heart attacks or am I just a bad choice of friends (or both)?

The corrupt right-wing conservative Korean governments during those times, colluded with many of the American adoption agencies which had high quotas to meet selling children.
To save on words, I’m skipping why your characterizing of the 2nd/3rd republic as dictatorships are false.
You’re (and KBS are) digging up the past and thinking: how can certain details, but not others, be useful for the narrative? This is how nuance is destroyed and fake history is created. Almost half of the 200,000+, or 100,000, were “war orphans” born in the 1950s, many of them mixed race. Many to single never married mothers. In 1953, there were 350,000 women working as prostitutes. Use of contraceptives were rare if not non-existent. These aren’t coincidences.
The vast majority of the children were unwanted shameful societal embarrassments. Their blood seen as tainted and impure, even for pure Korean orphans (it wasn’t only American/foreign soldiers indulging). This view remains true today as Koreans extremely value blood. Sure, some actual orphans did get mixed in, but everyone else viewed them as bastards. They rarely adopt as a result. As of 2015 statistics, 85% of recent orphans who remained in Korea are never adopted.
These kids were not put up for adoption because some nefarious dictatorship wanted to create misery and profit off selling them. These kids were put up for adoption because the entire Korean society wanted them and the embarrassing shameful problem gone… and the Korean government’s only role was the facilitation of the will of the people. Most abuses were done by private apolitical organizations. You and KBS are trying to offload the entire culture’s sin on a boogeyman from the past to avoid having to contemplate guilt.
You might ask, what of the other 100,000 or so who were not “war orphans?” Well an awful lot of those where also mixed or of similarly questionable origins. Widespread prostitution tends to do that. No one in Korea was prepared to deal with that. No one in Korea at the time wanted to even acknowledge that. Even the liberals of the 80s to early 2000s wanted to turn a blind eye and pretend it never existed, and international adoptions during the liberal Kim Dae Jung and Roh Moo-Hyun were still pretty high and legally shady.
Moreover, you’re trying to make Korea’s disregard for human dignity some sort of “right wing” thing in order to avoid a sense of guilt… Did you know slavery is still a problem in Korea? Particularly in left wing Jeolla-Do. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s the only place left in Korea that still practices plantations slavery. It’s not like it’s a new problem either. There are many stories dating back many decades of Jeolla-Do leftists kidnapping people to work on the farms.
And don’t forget who the biggest human trafficker of the Korean peninsula is. Communist North Korea regularly pimps out women and works to death men both in NK and abroad.

Did you know slavery is still a problem in Korea? Particularly in left wing Jeolla-Do.
So Gray Black.
Please explain to us how there is ‘slavery; in Jeolla province.
How do we know that this isn’t your(or setnaffa’s) attempt to spread more fake news and misinformation?
Everyone knows the Jeolla province is the birthplace of the Korean liberal political movement and the DPK. So, it is obviously in the interests of the Setnaffarians to discredit it since they want a right wing dictatorship to rule over Korea forever which ensures that their beloved USFK stays in Korea forever.
Please explain to us how there is ‘slavery; in Jeolla province.
What? The BBC video I posted wasn’t clear enough? Here are some select quotes from a CBS article that is far more graphic in the description of abuses.
Kim Seong-baek was forced to work without pay, day after 18-hour day mining the big salt crystals that blossomed in the mud around him. Half-blind and in rags
What do you call forced work without pay?
Kim broke down, begged for help, said he’d been held against his will. The man offered to take them to the police to file a report. Instead, he called their boss, who beat Kim with a rake — and it was back to the salt fields.
Now that’s just uncomfortably close to some of the stories of Black American trying to escape.
Although 50 island farm owners and regional job brokers were indicted, no local police or officials have faced punishment — and national police say none will, despite multiple interviews showing some knew about the slaves and even stopped escape attempts.
Oh boy, institutional slavery protected by the local government.
Other villagers, including paid salt workers, say farmers do the best they can despite little help from the government, and add that only a few bad owners abuse workers. Farmers describe themselves as providing oases for the disabled and homeless.
That’s right out of the Southern justification of slavery, you know the people you and KM are constantly accusing others of being. Except all those Southern slave owners are long dead and gone. The slave owners of Jeolla-Do are alive and kicking.
Kim ran again at the end of the month. Hong quickly called members of the volunteer patrol, and, again, Yoon spotted the slaves as they tried to reach the port and brought them to Hong. Furious, the owner issued an ultimatum: Run again, and you’ll get a knife in the stomach. Hong beat Kim so badly he broke Kim’s glasses, leaving him nearly blind
Just like Antebellum South. These days they use the disabled, but back when there was far more homeless due to the aftermath of the Korean war, they were kidnapping regular people off the streets.
job agencies in Mokpo, which see mentally disabled workers as better bets because they’re less likely to complain or run away
Mokpo is in… wait for it… Jeolla-Do.
“It’s like a game of hide-and-seek,” said Park Su-in, an activist. “What we are finding is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s hard to comprehend how bad it is for the disabled people who are forced to work out on these isolated islands.”
To add additional rhythm to historical parallels there even appears to be something like the underground railway in Korea of activists trying to free slaves. Anyways you can read more in the link.
Gray Black takes an issue that occurred nine years ago on an island(not Jeolla province mainland) and have since been resolved, and makes it look like that slavery has run amok in Jeolla as part of a dim witted plan to disgrace the birthplace of the Korean liberal political movement.
And the broadcast is from ITN not BBC Doesn’t know his own material!
Where have I seen this before?
Ah yes Tara O.
So it seems setnaffa has taken a page from Tara O’s playbook. Specifically taking an event or issue and blowing it way out of proportion to fit the narrative in addition to spreading fake news and misinformation.
The migrants, aged 25 and 24, who worked there for 14 months and three months respectively, accused their employer, identified by his surname Park, to Gimhae Jungbu Police Station. Miryang police took over the case.
According to the victims’ testimonies, Park treated them like his property, touching and grabbing their buttocks and other body parts ― even in front of his friends.
Park forced them to work overtime past the hours stated in the employment contracts they had signed, and never paid them due wages. Often they were given tasks too hard for women ― moving heavy bags of onions or dismantling metal rods from vinyl houses by themselves.
So we have a farmer from the Gyeongsang-namdo Province, the cradle of Korean conservative politics engaging in modern day slavery.
How shocking!
And here I was thinking that as per Gray Black the conservatives from Gyeongsang-do are pure and do not engage in such nefarious activites. 😀

Gray Black takes an issue that occurred nine years ago on an island(not Jeolla province mainland) and have since been resolved
The following is from the US State Department in 2022.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) and provincial police investigated allegations of exploitation of individuals with intellectual disabilities working on salt farms, which included indicators of trafficking such as nonpayment of wages and excessive working hours; however, NGOs reported officials did not employ trauma-informed procedures during the investigation of these allegations, and the government reported it did not identify evidence of trafficking crimes.
According to the Korean government, trafficking doesn’t happen. This is highly unlikely considering witness testimony, court cases ruling in favor of the trafficked forced laborers, etc. What this goes to show is that the issue was never addressed. The government decided to hush it up and it’s still going on. Furthermore, State Department agrees with that notion.
NGOs reported the government did not implement adequate or frequent inspections of fishing vessels, which reportedly resulted in minimal regulation and impunity for boat captains and others who exploited migrant workers, including in forced labor. The government did not report prosecuting any cases involving the exploitation of migrant workers in forced labor, despite reports from NGOs that this continued to occur. NGOs working with labor trafficking victims reported that immigration officials and labor inspectors treated some potential labor trafficking cases as administrative labor violations.
Oh… I see, it’s not “slavery,” it’s just “administrative labor violations.” Be real, slavery trafficked labor has run amok, and much of it is in the labor intensive agriculture industry… which is largely concentrated in Jeolla-Do. The other major concentration of trafficking is in the port cities like Pusan and Inchon that have massive red light districts increasingly full of Eastern European women and thuggish looking men.
Korean liberal political movement.
They are extremely socially traditional, but they are largely peasants easily manipulated by politicians from the North… metaphorically speaking of course… unless it’s Moon Jae In who was literally from the North.

Chickenhead, the Ukraine war is still going on because of South Korea. I didn’t say this, the British magazine, The Economist did.
But ammunition consumption has far outstripped both pre-war expectations (causing artillery barrels to melt) and production capacity, exposing gaping holes in the West’s industry. “Munitions are like cement,” writes Jonathan Caverley of the us Naval War College. “Consumers do not always need them but require massive amounts when they do.” Ukraine’s counter-offensive would be impossible without an influx of shells from South Korea.
Frankly, I can think of dozens of ways for South Korea to take advantage of the situation in Europe, after negotiating with the Europeans. A better pragmatic leadership in South Korea would have recognized this. A responsible and an imaginative leadership in South Korea would have fought for the economic interests of South Korea to further South Korean people’s prosperity, especially at a time when countries like the US is shouting America First. South Korea holds so many cards that it can use to negotiate to a world status that the country has never seen before. Instead of this, South Korea is now just a doormat to be stomped on.

CH, this video seems to be what you were looking for earlier…
It seems that Gray Black having been confronted has changed tack and is now saying that South Korea has a huge human slavery problem and is blaming that on Moon Jaein.
But he did miss one thing.
The Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking but is making significant efforts to do so.
Therefore South Korea was downgraded to Tier 2.
At 2021, South Korea was Tier 1. As of 2022, South Korea was downgraded to Tier 2.
Yoon Seok-ryeol became President on May 2022 after winning the election on March 2022.
Which means after Moon did a good job in keeping South Korea at Tier 1 but after Yoon became President it seems he neglected things leading Korea to become Tier 2 and maintaining that into 2023.
Which begs the question of why he isn’t calling out Yoon for doing a not so stellar job of having South Korea downgraded to Tier 2.
Gray Black is doing a good job shooting himself in the foot.

More allegations of corruption by the current Yoon administration which benefited Kim Gun-hee.
Of course GI Korea conveniently ignores these allegations while vigorously going after allegations of corruption against the DPK.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has faced allegations that it changed the highway route to an area where there is real estate owned by Kim Gun-hee, the wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which had previously disregarded simulations showing expected traffic congestion and a petition with over 10,000 signatures from citizens opposing the change, has reportedly shown some efforts regarding the issue of changing the highway route. It is said that they even dispatched staff to the site, demonstrating their sincerity.

Here is yet another industry that South Korea is poised to dominate the world: high-powered memory chips that go into AI servers which South Korea has a near monopoly status.
My question is, with so many critical fields that South Korea leads in the world, why SK’s GDP doesn’t rise, why the country suffers from huge trade deficits, why there aren’t any new jobs created, and why does the country seems to always grovel in front of other more powerful countries like the US, China, Russia, and even Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
It has to be very poor leadership that reflects incompetence, stupidity, and a lack of vision.
Maybe North Korea’s leader is just lonely?

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which had previously disregarded simulations showing expected traffic congestion and a petition with over 10,000 signatures from citizens opposing the change, has reportedly shown some efforts regarding the issue of changing the highway route. It is said that they even dispatched staff to the site, demonstrating their sincerity.
