Yoon Administration Fires Back at Former President Moon Over Jamboree Criticism
Former President Moon must be pretty concerned that the investigation into the Scout Jamboree fiasco will find cronyism during was to blame for the poor location and extravagant spending by organizers chosen by his administration. This is likely what is causing him to come out and preemptively attack the Yoon administration to place blame on them:
The office of President Yoon Suk Yeol hit back at former President Moon Jae-in on Monday for accusing the government of mismanaging the 2023 World Scout Jamboree, citing a newspaper editorial that called Moon “shameless” for his remarks.

Moon wrote in a Facebook post Sunday that the country “lost many things” due to the Jamboree, including national dignity and pride, leaving people only to feel embarrassed.
The comments appeared to lay blame on the current government after a lack of preparation left many Jamboree participants struggling to cope with a scorching heat wave earlier this month.
“A leading newspaper of our country said in today’s editorial that it is like a thief turning on the master with a club and a thick face with no shame,” a presidential official told reporters when asked about Moon’s remarks. “We take note of that assessment.”

Oh this is rich.
Here is Yoon and his plasticky wife, attending the opening ceremony and making a big ass boring speech that made the kid scouts wait out in the boiling sun for 4 hours in a long lineup, while Yoon’s security goons searched the bags and bodies of attendees.

So he was ready to take all the credit if the event went smoothly, as he had proclaimed loudly to the media that South Korea was ready to host the scouts. But I guess he was also ready to shirk off the responsibility, if the event turned into a disaster. What a shameless pompous idiot.
He cannot dump this all on Moon, when it was the North Jeolla province under the DP party’s provincial government which was awarded the event. Until Yoon stuck his dirty fingers and had his central government under the Gender Equality Ministry and Interior Safety Ministry take over the lead role instead. It was those two Ministries, directly reporting to Yoon, which claimed South Korea was totally ready for this event. If they believed there were serious problems that would have been fatal to the event, why didn’t the central government ministries postpone the event, instead of adamantly denying that there were serious huge problems with the preparations (which were pointed out time and time again by concerned people), and declaring that South Korea was totally ready to host this event? So why didn’t they stop this event, when they were the ones in control?
Commie Moon purposely made a poorly planned event while he and his cronies pulled in millions in bribes and kickbacks.
While Yoon wasn’t my choice for President—as I’m not South Korean and prefer the ROK voters choose their own form of destruction—he does understand the fight he’s in and the trap Moon tried to leave for him and the Nation.
I’m not a fan of Moon myself. IMO he made some mind boggling policy decisions that may have led to voter disgruntlement that helped put Yoon in power.
But trying to put the blame on Moon shows desperation by Yoon and his supporters, including GIKorea and some members of this forum.
As I said previously, unlike the Olympics and the World Cup, there is no need for huge infrastructure projects that must be started six to seven years before the events, which means preparations are probably done in the last one to two years and that there is flexibility when it comes to the venue and facilities.
And as KM pointed out, the Yoon government had 15 months to make changes if they felt that the Jamboree was going to be a screw up.
They could have changed the venue, the date, and added more sanitation and medical facilities.
There were even warnings, but the Yoon government chose to ignore them.
Yoon could have come out being prepared and competent but instead he and his underlings chose the path they have always taken leading to the preventable international fiasco we have now.
So trying to put the blame on Moon for what is obviously a Yoon government screw up surely does not bode well for Yoon and reinforces the image that he and his underlings are a bunch of mindless, corrupt, and incompetent fools who don’t have the guts to own up to their screwups.

he does understand the fight he’s in and the trap Moon tried to leave for him and the Nation.

Like TOK said, why can’t the right wing members of the ROK Drop have the guts to come out and admit the obvious that they admire Yoon and feel that he is a good choice for President.
If the US really cares about South Korea then it should stop blocking South Korea’s right to reprocess spent nuclear fuel. South Korea spends tons of money annually importing enriched uranium from the US for its nuclear reactors and when the fuel is done, spends tons more money storing the waste underground. How come the EU and Japan are allowed to reprocess their own nuclear waste, but South Korea can’t? Why is there such discrimination against South Korea? Any American here to answer that?
I’ll answer that. Americans here likes Yoon, because he toes the American line – even if it’s at the expense of the South Korean people’s interests. Because of Yoon, the country is going down the toilet, but Americans here want to prop up that incompetent fool.
He’s doing what America tells him to do without giving much thought.
GI Korea and the Setnaffarians love him because he’s doing everything to keep the USFK in Korea, make them very comfortable, and giving GI Korea and the Setnaffarians plenty of photos of joint military exercises for their viewing pleasure.
For GI Korea and the Setnaffarians the well being of the Korean people is not their concern as long as they have their USFK and the joint military exercises.
Obviously, Yoon is a good tool for American foreign policy, and for American economic interests – creating American jobs at the expense of South Koreans.

All of the criticism of Yoon is the equivilant of Trump eats catsup on steak. Small criticisms by small people.
Yoon may only go down in history as a placeholder president. He may not guide Korea through any major crisis and he may not make any innovative policy that isn’t already agreed upon. But he hasn’t done anything to damage Korea and he has reversed some of the self-destructive things the Moon administration did.
That is better-than-average performance for any president.
Also, those running against him were horrible people with horrible policies, some of which were designed to sell Korea out to globalist/corporatist interests¹.
