Korean First Lady Sides With Activists to Ban the Sale of Dog Meat
|It seems eating dog meat is close to being eradicated in South Korea as it is. In the past twenty years it has become hard to even find restaurants that serve it:
First lady Kim Keon Hee said she would work with animal activists until the dog meat industry was eradicated in Korea, continuing her campaign to promote awareness of animal rights.
“We all know how we came forward today with a heart filled with sadness and urgency. Here, all of you are giving everything to save these small lives, but there are animals out there dying so cruelly and unbearably that it’s truly hard to watch,” she said as she appeared at a press conference held by local animal rights activists on Wednesday.
“I will become friends with these individuals and work tirelessly until the consumption of dog meat is banned. I promise,” she said.

I tried many foods when I visited my relatives in South Korea. Boshintang is OK. Kinda tastes like beef, chewy, stringy, and nicely fatty. Pairs well with soju. Whale also pairs well with soju. Tastes like bacon made of fish, nicely chewy. Dolphin was like whale but inferior in taste and texture. It would be sad if these traditional food experiences were lost.
I hope to visit Australia sometime and try the Kangaroo and Emu. Already have had American crocodile and shark, but I hear the Australian ones are tastiest so very eager for some outback dining. Like in Korea, so called animal rights activists are trying to ban fine dining.
Ok, all you smartypants, if you aren’t supposed to eat dog, why are they made of meat?
@GrayBlack, kangaroo is very good meat to eat if marinated properly. If not marinated properly it can be very chewy. Emu meat I found to be oily and not very good. Australian crocodile though is very good to put on the BBQ. Never had shark in Australia, so I cannot comment on that.
The ladies behind Kim Keonhee don’t seem to be happy that she’s attending the event.

I know, right?
Generally, as a dog lover, talking about beating dogs, burning them alive, killing them, and then eating them, is quite the festive event.
What a buzzkill.
Pinch-faced leftist scolds are never happy about anything… And dog meat is sold all over China. What are you prattling about?
