Korean Researchers Show Benefits of Using Solar Panels in Farm Fields

It will be interesting to see if South Korea’s farm fields start getting covered in solar panels or not based on this research:

A solar panel array is installed at a green onion farm of Yeungnam University's agrivoltaics demonstration complex in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, Wednesday. Courtesy of Hanwha Solutions

Seasoned green onions served at a cafeteria in Yeungnam University last Wednesday were no different from those made with ingredients from ordinary farms. However, these ones did differ in one major way: They were grown under solar panels installed at the university’s agrivoltaics demonstration complex.

Hanwha Solutions Q Cells Division, which hosted a media briefing at the university on dual land use for agriculture and solar power generation, dismissed any safety concerns regarding the crops from the complex.

“Our solar modules use eco-friendly wires that do not contain lead,” said Hong Sung-min, an employee at the solar module manufacturing unit of Hanwha Group.

Yeungnam University professor Jung Jae-hak, who is leading experiments at the complex, told the press that solar panels do not pollute the soil with heavy metals.

O. They’re using “eco-friendly wires”… under solar panels made using strip-mining, manufacturing that produces toxic wastes and uses more energy to produce than can be reasonably-expected to be generated during the life of the panel.

Buncha grifters.

I see setnaffa wants Korea to import more coal from Russia, thus increasing Korea’s dependence on Russian coal, while enabling Russia to exercise influence over Korea.

This will surely please setnaffa’s Russian masters at the same time.

No, CH, chinabot cannot read minds, just talking points.

Not that I am against coal plants in South Korea, as the laws will require them to be as low-emission as possible; but I prefer more nuclear power generation.

Are they going to go back to harvesting rice by hand? What nonsense.

but I prefer more nuclear power generation.

During a previous debate over whether Korea can handle an increase in electric vehicles, setnaffa was the one who stated that nuclear power could not handle the amount of electricity to charge the vehicles.

He and ChickenHead, which is his sockpuppet, suggested that an increase in coal powered plants was the answer and that Korea should import more coal.

South Korea’s biggest coal supplier before the Ukraine war was Russia.

So, it seems that setnaffa will jump back and forth if it suits his Russian masters.

It was I who suggested Korea could not handle the amount of power required to move to electric cars.

I was shown Yoon’s nuclear reactor construction plan (reversed from Moon’s no nuclear/no coal/no economy position).

After some math, I decided Korea could switch to all-electeic.

As always, when the facts change, my ipinion changes.

Despite whatever words you put in my mouth, I don’t advocate for more coal…

…unless the other option is no energy/economy.
