Victor Cha Believes U.S., ROK, & Japan Trilateral Cooperation to Benefit the World
Long time Korea expert Victor Cha, who now teaches at Georgetown University, is a big advocate of trilateral cooperation between the U.S., South Korea, and Japan:
The three leaders agreed to “inaugurate a new era of trilateral partnership” to counter military threats from North Korea and “aggressive behavior” from China in the South China Sea, according to a joint statement at the time.
“As we embark together in this new era, our shared values will be our guide and a free and open Indo-Pacific, in which our half-billion people are safe and prosperous, will be our collective purpose,” the statement said.
Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force joined warships from the U.S. and South Korea in several military drills this year, including a ballistic missile defense exercise on Aug. 29 near Jeju Island, south of the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S., South Korea and Japan’s “institutionalization in the broader scope of cooperation really is unprecedented,” Cha said.
“It is transforming the U.S.-[South Korea] and U.S.-Japan alliances from being more than just private goods that provide exclusive benefits to allied partners, to also publicly benefit the world,” Cha added.

I have always stated that the Setnaffarian right wingers support corrupt right wing governments in Korea so that they can keep USFK in Korea forever.
And that they also look forward to bringing back a right wing dictatorship back to Korea because they know that a right wing dictatorship will continue to hold on to power and as such the Setnaffarians don’t have to worry about a possible left wing government coming back to power.
That and their obesession with imaginary communists who they feel a right wing dictatorship will counter.
Note, that there is no criticism in regards to closer relationship with USA and Japan with Korea.
Why would the Setnaffarians do this despite siding with Russia and ultimately backed by China?
Simple.
The Setnaffarians want Korea to be fully dependent on the US and Japan for its defense and technology thus weakening it.
They know that the US and Japan at the end of the day will abandon Korea forcing Korea to turn to Russia and China.
They also know that the Korean left are more smarter and enact policies that make Korea stronger and more self sufficient compared to the dumber Korean right.
As such they need to keep the Korean right in power, as long as it takes to weaken Korea for their Russian and Chinese masters.
Because a weaker Korea will mean a crack in the overall US security alliance in the Pacific.
