A burial ceremony for Belgian Korean War Veteran Leon Bosquet, as per his will, takes place at the U.N. Memorial Cemetery in Busan on Nov. 15, 2023. Belgium and 15 other nations fought for South Korea under the U.N. flag against invading North Korea during the 1950-52 conflict. (Yonhap)
Like the USA, Belgium had just recently come out of WW2. Unlike tbe USA, Belgium was essentially raped by the Nazis and there were many fierce battles fought in their borders.
The fact that they — like so many free nations — sent troops is an indication of how much they valued the freedom of all people, even those halfway around the world.
