Network errors happen to even large cloud providers like Amazon:

Setnaffa, some day, a lot of datacucks who think water comes from the tap and electricity comes from the plug and food comes from the store and their data comes from the cloud are going to be seriously disappointed.

Institutions are breaking down all around us. Nothing indicates the global telecommunication system is immune to this.

“Only 3.6% of Americans Got Updated COVID-19 Shots as of Oct. 31”

Come on, you science deniers!

You spent a couple of years demanding everyone get up to date on their vaccines under threat of firing, concentration camps, and no food.

What’s going on?

You haven’t said anything about the vaccine being unnecessary. You haven’t expressed any distrust in the pharmaceutical-government-media alliance. You haven’t openly recognized that covid was only dangerous to a very narrow demographic that you aren’t in. You haven’t shown any awareness of increased mortality among the vaccinated who had zero risk from covid.

…so it must be something else.

What changed?

I only know I didn’t change.

AI could replace over 4 million high-paying jobs in South Korea in the next few years

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-16/ai-could-replace-4-million-jobs-in-south-korea-bok-study-says?embedded-checkout=true

I am also hoping that AI could also replace the politicians including the president. That would fix 80% of the country’s self-inflicted problems.

It’s not just about the collapsing demographics in Korea, but it’s also about a collapsing economy due to negligence, abuse, and extreme mismanagement by its current leaders.

If South Korea has it really bad, neighboring Japan is even worse. So the AI replacing their politicians would also do wonders for that country. The Japanese Yen has now devalued and collapsed against the Korean Won by 15% since last year, with no end in sight. Japan just announced a horrible minus 2.5% economic growth rate for the third quarter. Everything in Japan is now cheap for Koreans, who are flocking to Japan, saying it’s cheaper to travel in Japan than inside Korea. Per capita income in both PPP and nominal GDP per person, in Japan is below Korea, and the real wage gap between the two countries is now growing huge, with Japanese wages having grown exactly 0% since 1990.

AI is going to replace jobs everywhere, not just Korea.

When the Japanese/Chinese/American/EU/Korean economy sucks, maybe the Korean president isn’t really to blame.

Protip: What everyone is calling AI isn’t AI at all. It is SI… not artificial intelligence, but simulated intelligence.

It is really just an encoding of mankind’s knowledge… a network of word orders based on probability.

It can supply information very much in line with how the world supplies information but it cannot set a goal, make a plan, and do it.

At least not yet.

And it won’t be able to with this architecture.

Real AI is going to need another process.

But, since most people are somewhere between dumb and worthless, SI and a good operator can replace many of them.

Even the Chinabots can be replaced… assuming we can find a Commodore VIC 20.

Commodore? Nah. They don’t measure up to a Casio digital watch.

And as to SI, I took Decision Support/Expert Systems as an emphasis back in the 80s. We’re just beginning to see the fruit of that tree…

Get it? Decision Tree?

I am so droll today.

Setnaffa, if there is a Python in the decision tree, don’t take the Apple.

You won’t be able to play EVE Online because it only has an Atom processor.

And you will notice it doesn’t have the updated logo, just the original sign.

You don’t want to be kicked out of the European Distance and e-Learning Network.

All this talk of Eden reminds me of “Mutant Year Zero”, the Stem game, not the pen and pencil RPG.

Great story. Horrible interface. Gotta us the keyboard to move, not the mouse.

Video from 2021; but brings back great memories. Not mine, just something recommended to me by a friend.

Nice video. Good find. Heart warming to see Itaewon in a state it was meant to be. Crowded, full of life, but with an easy-going and welcoming atmosphere – THAT is Korea. Hard (impossible?) to find a venue like that in the US of A.

The one thing though, all those face diapers. I won’t get started, but if people only knew then what they know now …

One request: If the videographer could go back to 1:51 and make an entire hour long video just of her – that’d be great.

Chinese Biolab in California. Newly-released details. Where else are they running these?

Nothing about this “biolab” story rings true.

Something happened but it isnt what they are reporting as they echo official reports.

There was no real labwork going on. It was more like a storage site. But it was stored and labled poorly.

It would seem like they were supporting a real lab in some way.

It appears the federal government knows what’s going on and they don’t want to touch it. The most obvious possibility is because this all involves…

…the federal government.

Unsecured ebola on American soil is something that should generate some concern.

Unsecured mice bred to carry disease in a warehouse full of disease without good barriers to the outside world shouldnget everyone’s attention.

In this case, the silence speaks more than the normal lies.

I don’t know what’s going on here but I know I’m not going to any California wet markets.

You’re on the right track, CH. I would avoid anything from China or California for awhile…

I’m in Cali at the moment. LA is like one giant expensive trash heap. Hollywood blvd is shockingly trashy. Massive open drug abuse by deranged vagrants during normal daylight hours litter the streets. I saw meth, fentynl, tranq, and all sorts of unknown drugs being used. Nearly all the buildings are dilapidated, and homeless inhabited tents that look like castles of random trash dot the urban environment.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My Thanksgiving Fact of the Day is that turkeys die after séx.

Well… at least mine did.
