“You are an old man with an outdated idea of Korea.”
Or…
“You don’t even know what that is (Yongsan Electronics Market).”
But you can’t have both.
If you stay consistent with your insults, they accumulate meaning. If you constantly contradict yourself, you become the subject of your own joke.
Using The Book of Standard Insults and Techniques, which advise to respond to arguments you can’t win with racist/sexist/-phobe/-ist or by just talking trash with no accumulated meaning behind it, is the most amateur of amateur and is even coming out of fashion with the room temperature IQ crowd, as even they recognize it is losing any power.
Perhaps the Chinese government is interested in one of my classes, such as How to Bot Properly, Saying Stupid Stuff Without Looking Stupid, Not Inadvertently Giving the Other Team an Opening to Express Sensible Ideas, etc.

It really is the limit.
Just because the chinabot doesn’t remember the wonder of shopping for everything in Itaewon, the better deals in “real” Korean markets (like Dongdaemun at midnite), and the joy of sipping expensive and mediocre coffee at “Poem” in Myungdong doesn’t mean I have forgotten.
There is just too much shopping in Korea to take it all in without years in-country. And adding up my business and personal trips adds up to just over one year.
I never made it to the Yongsan Electronic Market because I was always just a visitor and most of those things (stereo components, speakers, computers, monitors) don’t fit in carry-on bags.
I did make it to Taehangno for pizza and the Mariachi band playing outside a new Mexican restaurant. And saw a couple of Namsan halmonis yelling at each other (sounded angry to me but my wife said they sounded like friends trying to decide where to go for lunch).
Most of my recent visits were further south as I needed a new A2 jacket and Mike’s Arcade does great custom work for a decent price.
Next trip we hope to visit East and West beaches and maybe the Strawberry Festival. Might be a while though. Flights are still pretty pricey and Kim Fatty Iii is too grumpy.
C’est la vie.

Actually, as I was falling in love at the time, Poem in Myungdong still has fond memories for me.
But so does Mike’s Arcade just outside Osan AB. And they gave me free coffee while my wife negotiated for my flight jackets.
@Set, Funny you should mention Poem. Years ago, my wife and I randomly walked in and, to our surprise, ended up having the best patbingsu ever. Since then, we go back every time we’re in the vicinity (Myeongdong, Namdaemun, Insadong) and want some dessert … which, for me, is every time.
Small world.

@mcgeehee, yeah, it was the best of times in some regards.
And even better now with jealous chinabots raging.
Anyway, I appreciate the shared remembrance. And I’m glad it’s still there.

“Poem” in Myungdong
There are literally hundreds of thousands of interesting mom-and-pop cafes to choose from and you choose to talk about the grungy Poem in a tourist trap area. I agree with KP, Trumpbots don’t know anything.
Oh no! I’ll never be able to go there now!
Anyway…
@setnaffa

Korea Person, you can have:

You’ve never been to Korea, don’t have relatives in Korea, and don’t understand how things work in Korea.
Your claims are all part of your fruitless attempt to establish credentials that you don’t have.
You’re just an ignorant, racist, right-wing Southern white who can’t seem to get out of the shell you’ve created for yourself.
