10% of Marriages in South Korea in 2023 Involved International Couples

According to the article as Koreans travel more and more people travel to Korea it is causing more opportunities for international couples to meet:

More than 10 percent of marriages in Korea last year were between Koreans and foreign nationals, rising to the highest level in 13 years, according to Statistics Korea, Tuesday.

In its annual report on marriage and divorce, the statistics agency said the number of international marriages totaled 19,700 in 2023, up 18.3 percent from a year earlier.

International marriages accounted for 10.2 percent of 193,700 marriages reported nationwide in 2023 — the highest ratio since 2010 when the figure stood at 10.5 percent.

“The 2023 ratio of international couples among all newlyweds is noteworthy,” a Statistics Korea official said, noting that the ratio had been above 10 percent mostly in the 2000s but remained in the single digit level from 2011 to 2022.

Nothing new. Most of these marriages are between Korean men and Vietnamese or Japanese women.

How about most marriages being to Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai.

Hard to admit that China is mostly just another 3rd world country filled with women looking to marry up.

Bonus:

Speaking of peasents, you clearly have the attitudes and values of a peasant. Based on my observations in life, if someone changes this, their situation always improves.

Also, based on my observations, very few people change this.

25 years ago, plus or minus a few weeks, my Korean wife and I were married.

We’re both so blessed.

National origin is not as important as what’s in our hearts.

Stop hating people if you ever expect to be as happy as we are.

Between the prime marriage age of 20-40 years old there is about a million more ROK males than ROK females.

Korea Times elides the fact that although they may have a foreign passport, many of the “foreigners” are ethnic Koreans such as the tautologies of Chinese joseonjok females and ethnic Korean jemikyopo males.

There is even a category on matchmaking websites for Korean actresses seeking jemikyopo dentists.

The E-4 visa gives matchmakers sufficient time to do due diligence on prospective suitors without having to travel to South Park or Flushing.
