Increase in Nuclear Power Use Leads to Drop in Carbon Emissions in South Korea
|It is interesting that with all the talk of global warming from the Korean Democratic Party, it is President Yoon from the Korean conservative party who has actually done more to cut carbon emissions. I have always said that any global warming person who doesn’t advocate for the use of nuclear power is not serious in their beliefs and this just proves it:
As the Yoon Suk Yeol government significantly increased the proportion of nuclear power generation, its dependence on fossil fuels fell significantly. Dependence on fossil fuels has become lower than during the Moon Jae In government, which implemented a policy of de-nuclearization to reduce carbon emissions. Attention is focusing on how strongly the Democratic Party of Korea, which won a landslide victory in the general election, will push for the restoration of its policy on denuclearization, which it had promised.
According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation on the 15th, nuclear power accounted for 30.2% of the total power generation in the two years since the inauguration of the Yoon Suk Yeol government until last year. This is an increase of 3.7 percentage points from the previous Moon Jae In administration, which was only 26.5 percent. The share of renewable power generation also rose 2.8 percentage points from 7.6% during the Moon administration to 10.4% during the Yoon administration.

What an ignorant. You do realize that it was the Democratic party that shut down 16 coal plants, right?
PRC will ramp up coal plants and dirty nuke plants fast enough to depopulate the Korean Peninsula. Don’t worry.
“What an ignorant. You do realize that it was the Democratic party that shut down 16 coal plants, right?”
Another poor soul who is not sure of the relationship between particulate pollution and the dreaded carbon dioxide.
Particulate pollution is what you reduce to show cleaner air and hopefully get votes, if you work out acceptable economics.
Carbon dioxide is what you pretend to reduce to scare people into paying more taxes and reducing their lifestyles.
PRC will ramp up coal plants
I remember setnaffa and his sockpuppet ChickenHead advocating Korea import more coal from Russia to meet its energy needs.
They also advocated that Korea not expand its nuclear power plants saying they are useless.
Now we have this
I have always said that any global warming person who doesn’t advocate for the use of nuclear power is not serious in their beliefs and this just proves it:
Their favorite blogger and comrade in arms posted that Korea should expand its nuclear power plants.
As a result, we now have the Setnaffarians backtracking on their previous pro-Russia position and blaming it on Russia’s partner, the PRC.
So what are they?
Pro-Russia? Pro-Coal or Anti-Coal? Pro-Nuclear or Anti-Nuclear?
Or just your typical uneducated right-wing racist white American Southerner, who can’t make up his mind and is highly likely to fall for conspiracy theories and fake news?
The democratic party wanted to shut down the nuke plants, creating an energy deficit in Korea. At the same time they were trying to sell designs of the same nuke plants to European country. Basically trying to turn South Korea into a vassal state relient on commie china.
Korea Person, you are welcome to post a link to anything I wrote.
Making stuff up doesn’t quite have the same power as a direct quote.
Aren’t you the expert on this?
Chinabot states the opposite of what I recommended and then accuses others of mendacity. How utterly CCP-like. Freudian projection.
OTOH, if he “truly remembers” stuff that ain’t so, he should see a doctor to treat his early-onset Alzheimer’s…
“Making stuff up”
“Aren’t you the expert on this?”
Your baseless accusations haven’t counted since I walked in on you schnarling that homeless old man’s grizzled chubby.
@Korean Man, I have always been pro-nuclear energy. Modern technology has made nuclear plants much safer and the ROK technological expertise in nuclear energy is well known and sought after by other nations. It makes total sense that the ROK should use nuclear energy to reduce emissions.
Chinabot states the opposite of what I recommended and then accuses others of mendacity. How utterly CCP-like. Freudian projection.
How do you know that what I’m saying is true?
When setnaffa reacts strongly to my comments and reverts to calling a Korean, Chinabot, which we all know to be a racial slur.
I have always been pro-nuclear energy
@GIKorea
I don’t care whether you are pro or anti-nuclear.
What I do care is your Setnaffarian blog mate who once called for Korea to build more coal-fired powerplants, import more Russian coal, and claimed that nuclear power in Korea is not feasible.
He certainly didn’t have any qualms about Korea increasing carbon emissions.
Now that you’ve clearly come out for nuclear power in Korea and decreasing carbon emissions, he’s backpedaling which shows the hypocrisy that the Setnaffarians display every single time.
I think Korea needs more babies.
While more coal powerplants would satisfy the electeical requirements of this generation, perhaps cutting out several steps and powering everything directly by burning coal would be more energy efficient.
From coal fires replacing LED lighting to a steam-powered KTX, there is no limit to this new technology.
And all the surplus soot would drive a tattoo economy, as few things are more attractive than a Korean girl with facial tattoos of swear words and communist slogans.
Of course this coal should all be Russian, but purchased through several layers of expensive middlemen to comply with sanctions.
As a early-adopter, I will be the first to buy a new Hyundai Particulate, the first entirely coal-powered car in the last 100 years.
