The Gulf states are looking to partner with South Korea’s military weapons and technology, instead of China (unreliable/dodgy) and the US (unwilling). The US will probably try to block any exports of South Korean weapons system that relies on any US parts, but South Korea has a grand plan to cut them all out, including the jet fighter engines which will be home-developed and produced by 2030.
Sure, I’m sure Lockheed Martin would love to sell their jets to UAE. But that’s not exactly the position the US government holds. UAE isn’t the only country that was rejected for sales. Look at the other countries that the US refused.
Well, Lockheed rarely doesn’t get what it wants (smart contractors like that make sure to keep their industry in all politically powerful states).
I’m kind of surprised they haven’t allowed them to buy the F35 since we did allow the sale of the most advanced F16s (the block 60) in the world (better than ours). That wasn’t very long ago.

You believe the US is unwilling to sell weapons to the Gulf states?
I only wish.
