ROK National Security Advisor Hints that South Korea Will Provide Lethal Aid to Ukraine if Russia Provides Precision Weaponry to North Korea

This is about as close to an ultimatum to Russia that you will see from the Yoon administration:

National security adviser Chang Ho-jin said Sunday that South Korea will not be bound by anything with regard to its assistance to Ukraine if Russia provides North Korea with precision weapons.

Director of National Security Chang made the remark during a TV appearance, underscoring the point that Seoul’s decision on whether to provide weapons to Ukraine depends on how Russia’s military cooperation with North Korea goes.

“I would like to emphasize that it all depends on what Russia will do,” Chang said on KBS TV. “Will there be any line remaining for us if Russia gives precision weapons to North Korea?”

Chang’s remark means South Korea could provide lethal weapons to Ukraine if Russia crosses the line.

The US succeeded in limiting nuclear weapons in the Korean peninsula. The only problem is that this was successful only against South Korea. The US just watched while NK, backed by China and Russia in the UN Security Council, successfully developed their nukes.

Nice job America. You should be proud to have restricted South Korea and let North Korea indiscriminately run rampant with the development of its weapons program. I’m sure this is going to make the world safer now.

Korean Man makes a good point. It was the pacifist policies towards South Korea that resulted in North Korea invading in 1950.

We all know that the US refused to give South Korea fighters, tanks, artillery, and anti-tank weapons prior to the Korean War.

In the meantime the Soviet Union piled all sorts of heavy weaponry on North Korea.

If the US provided South Korea with heavy weapons then South Korea would have repulsed the North Korean invasion and there wouldn’t have been the need for American lives to be lost during the three year Korean War.

Correct KP, and nothing has changed since 1950.

But now we have this, Russian state media threatening South Korea with nuclear destruction.

But it’s all fine because Trump and Putin/KJU are good buddies who will negotiate the peace terms for the world. The problem for SK though is it will just be used as a bargaining chip tool. Those South Korean ‘experts’ who still believe in the Yoon’s signed paper contract, and are still mesmerized at the supposed godlike power of the US, are just pathetic fools.

Oh, KM and KP are now pro-militarization!? A curious development. KM and KP as usual take disparate historical facts and completely ignore context that would undermine their identity as leftists.

FDR and Truman were products of the early American progressive era. They had Soviet sympathies. Prior to the outbreak of the Korean war, the American progressives were optimistic about the Soviet Union and wanted to maintain peaceful cooperation. They viewed the Soviets as ideological allies. They had blinders on in regards to the North Koreans and were afraid of the South starting a war.  They had good reason to believe that as Syngman Rhee’s ideological project, Ilminism promised “Northward Reunification”, would be carried out if provided the tools to do so.

Of course they failed to predict the Soviets and the North had their own intention. After all, ‘they were good progressive too.’ The 1950s was an abrupt wake up call that the Soviets were not in fact allies, and the Cold War ensued, and all of a sudden Rhee, as distasteful as his right wing nationalism was to the American progressive sensibilities, became an ally of convenience.

Tensions remained though between SK and the American progressives. The US would continue to undermine South Korea’s nationalism by seeking to ‘democratize’ and open up Korean society. Often through directing, funding, and training the Korean left. As I’ve pointed out to both KM and KP, American institutions openly brag about undermining South Korea’s government by using idiots like them to color revolution the country whenever South Korea gets a little too uppity.

Only the Korean right fought to build a strong national defense. Only the Korean right attempted to develop nuclear weapons (the entire South Korean civilian nuclear industry is the result). It is the Korean left and their American masters that have always promoted demilitarization, rapprochement with the North, and denuclearization (under the guise of ‘green energy’).

Right. So they signed that worthless piece of paper last year with Biden after singing American Pie.
