2nd Infantry Division Soldier Receives Fine for Assaulting a Taxi Driver in Seoul

Another day and yet another taxi cab related incident involving a 2ID Soldier:

A U.S. service member stationed in South Korea pleaded guilty to assaulting a taxi driver in Seoul and was fined roughly $2,250 last month. The unidentified service member admitted to entering the taxi in the Gangnam district of the capital city at 4:11 a.m. Feb. 17, according to an Aug. 14 verdict sheet from the Seoul Central District Court.

South Korean law enforcement agencies and courts typically do not identify defendants except in extreme cases, such as homicide. After getting into the back seat of the taxi, the 52-year-old driver told the service member that another passenger had already reserved the taxi, according to the court document.

The service member then exited the taxi and walked toward the driver, at which point the driver also left the taxi. The service member then pushed the driver’s chest, choked him and punched him in the face several times, according to the court record.

You can read more at the link, but the Soldier also paid a settlement to the taxi driver which was smart. Paying the settlement usually leads to much lesser punishment.

The serviceman thought that he was back in the US where assaults, rampant violence, disrespect for humans, murders, and general criminal behaviors are normal parts of life living in the United States, and what it means to be a true American. This is why you can’t any nice things in America. Because everything gets stolen and destroyed in a heart beat.

Another article for the GI Flashbacks Article archive. GI Korea, you really should add the story of the Korean cab driver murdered by two knuckleheads from 2d Tank outside Casey in late November 1986. My unit Used to fly 2ID JAG officers down to Humphreys regularly for that legal drama in spring/summer 87. All but forgotten by 91-92, but not by the local Koreans.

I’ll bet the cab driver had it coming. But alas, one must resist the urge to deliver a beatdown no matter how much they deserve it.

“The Republican Party under Trump and made up of MAGAs such as the Setnaffarians, of course.”

Of course.

Quite surprising to learn all the Antifa hippies and BLM chimp-outs were in support of MAGA.

And, of course, all the flashmob looters, homeless camp druggies, and illegals are hard to identify due to their Trump 2024 hats.

You are either aware of the destructive left and pretend not to be, which makes you a tool of the destructive left… or… you believe what you speak, which makes you dumb.

Either way, your opinion doesn’t matter.

GI Korea, there is a brief story in the UPI archives dated December 1986 with the two perpetrators involved information. I used taxi’s a lot in 87/88 between Bo San dong and Camp Stanley after my Battalion broke up and I went to Stanley. Never had a problem myself but there was usually an underlying tension during some of these cab rides. I’ve always suspected this murder was the catalyst for the US service member vs Korean cab driver animosity, that and alcohol abuse.
