North Korean Troops Reportedly Using Civilian Trucks to Mobilize in Russia’s Kursk Province

It looks like the initial wave of 1,500 North Korean special operations troops sent to Russia are going to be used to try and help push Ukrainian troops out of the Russian territory of Kursk:

Russia is using civilian-plated trucks to transport “mercenaries” from North Korea to a frontline area, Ukraine’s military intelligence service has said, amid concerns over North Korean troops possibly joining combat in Russia’s war on Ukraine.

On Sunday, Russian police officers stopped a truck with civilian license plates carrying North Korean military personnel on the Kursk-Voronezh highway, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine said, noting the driver did not have a combat order.

The announcement comes amid reports of North Korean troops gathering in Russia’s southwestern region of Kursk, where a major Ukrainian incursion took place in August.

Ukraine has been actively recruiting foreign mercenaries since the beginning of the war.

Many of their foreign weapons systems require training and experience the Ukrainians don’t have. Everyone gets intentionally vague when the topic of who is managing this comes up.

A few NATO members can’t stop talking about how they want to send large numbers of NATO soldiers to Ukraine.

It now appears Russia has some NK soldiers lurking around in far smaller number than we keep getting promised.

Despite all the talk, we have yet to see them engage in any combat.

When we put all that together, it very much feels like our opinions are being manipulated through propaganda.

As this situation unfolds, let’s be sure we don’t lie to ourselves.

CH, I actually heard an AM radio national news at the top of the hour segment, either CBS or Fox, state 10,000 North Koreans during today’s 6-hour drive for work. Now I personally would believe in big foot and the Chupacabra before I believe that either of those two news organizations has an accurate figure but if it is true, those are divisional strength numbers for an old Soviet rifle division.

When you send 10,000 Asians into a Slavic battle, they die in numbers that are noticable.

When we start seeing videos of hundreds of Asian bodies (not 10s, as there are Asian Russians) taken by Ukrainian soldiers, it will have my attention.

This might happen.

It would be reasonable to expect it.

But until it happens, I’m not getting worked up.

There is so much smoke here, I distrust there is fire.

It looks like it is fair to speculate that North Koreans are not joining the War in Ukraine (or is that the War with Ukraine, or the Defense of Areas that are Not Ukraine that Ukraine is Trying to Continue Occupying).

North Korea looks like it will be fighting on Russian soil against invaders.

That changes the context of everything.

Are there any ideological issues or grounds for complaint that Russia is doing something in Russia?

Bonus: Don’t be surprised if Russia nukes Russia before this is all over. That would be totally Russian. What some might consider the total destruction of an invading military, Russia might consider an open-air test.
