End Gun Epidemic in America ~ Page 1 NYT
Be sure to read this historic piece…
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/12/05/opinion/end-the-gun-epidemic-in-america.html?referer=https://www.google.com/
“All decent people feel sorrow and righteous fury about the latest slaughter of innocents, in California. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are searching for motivations, including the vital question of how the murderers might have been connected to international terrorism. That is right and proper.
But motives do not matter to the dead in California, nor did they in Colorado, Oregon, South Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut and far too many other places. The attention and anger of Americans should also be directed at the elected leaders whose job is to keep us safe but who place a higher premium on the money and political power of an industry dedicated to profiting from the unfettered spread of ever more powerful firearms.
It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency. These are weapons of war, barely modified and deliberately marketed as tools of macho vigilantism and even insurrection. America’s elected leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on weapons of mass killing, as they did on Thursday. They distract us with arguments about the word terrorism. Let’s be clear: These spree killings are all, in their own ways, acts of terrorism…”

“How IGNORANT must anyone be to salute the anniversary of Pearl Harbor? F****** war mongerers ”

I somehow always presumed any salute of the anniversary of Pearl Harbor was done to honor those who defended America and its way of life against a surprise attack by a nation known for its brutality against those it conquered.

I’m not sure defending against a surprise attack is “war mongering”… but maybe Tbone was talking about the Japanese. Do they celebrate Pearl Harbor?

How do people so disconnected from reality function in society?

Oh. That’s right. They don’t, really.

Next question, then.

How do they get an internet connection?

Tbone has outlived his usefulness in stirring up topics to comment on. He has now passed into topics that are so dillusional that they need no comment.

Time to ignore him until he goes away.

195 Nations Agree On Climate Change
That’s 195 nations vs. one American political party, the imploding Republicans. And do you know why they agree…for the good of their own nation’s economy! You see, the GOP doesn’t care about the American economy DUUUH! The GOP only cares about war, killing, hating everyone/everything other than special white men and little/young boys they can rape!
http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/05/world/global-climate-change-draft-agreement/
“Negotiators from 195 countries agreed Saturday on a blueprint deal aimed at reducing global carbon emissions and limiting global warming, a significant but far from conclusive step in the multinational effort to keep climate change in check.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) posted on its website a copy of the draft agreement, which officials have been working on intensively for some time.
The document addresses deforestation, food security, poverty and a host of other issues, with chunks of the document focused on what developed countries can do to reduce carbon dioxide missions by a yet to be determined level by 2050.”

@6, “Constitutional rights”
Don’t tell me you mean the 2nd amendment? Too bad the GOP doesn’t care about other amendments aye 🙄 If only you could understand English so that you could understand the constitution as meant to be EGGHEAD #2 😈
Second Amendment Wasn’t Meant To Protect Individual Right To Own Guns
The 2008 Heller decision changed our founders’ intent.
How the Supreme Court upended the well-established meaning of the Second Amendment.
http://www.thenation.com/article/how-the-roberts-court-undermined-sensible-gun-control/
“Heller’s 5–4 majority decision, written by Justice Antonin Scalia and joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito, was less in sync with the founding generation than with the top priority of a powerful interest group closely aligned with the Republican right…
To grasp the audacity of what Scalia & Co. pulled off, turn to the Second Amendment’s text: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” To find in that wording an individual right to possess a firearm untethered to any militia purpose, the majority performed an epic feat of jurisprudential magic: It made the pesky initial clause about the necessity of a “well regulated Militia” disappear…
“The Second Amendment was a response to concerns raised during the ratification of the Constitution that the power of Congress to disarm the state militias and create a national standing army posed an intolerable threat to the sovereignty of the several states,” then-Justice John Paul Stevens correctly noted in his minority opinion, joined by Justices David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Stephen Breyer. “Neither the text of the Amendment nor the arguments advanced by its proponents evidenced the slightest interest in limiting any legislature’s authority to regulate private civilian uses of firearms.”

GOPers Love Bombs Too ❗
Hey Marco Rubio, We Could Have Had ‘Bomb Control’ But NRA Opposed It – Video of idiot blabbing on FoxNOTnews…
“the left” never talks about “bomb control.”
http://crooksandliars.com/2015/12/liberals-soft-bomb-control-are-you-sure
“When this first came out, without knowing anything about the case, the first thing they started talking about was gun control, and gun control, ” the junior senator from Florida said. “I don’t hear anybody talking about bomb control. They put bombs, they left bombs behind on the scene of attack, intending to kill even more people than they did with the guns.”

I’d like to take Young Marco back to the mid-1990s, when a number of terrifying incidents — the first attack on the World Trade Center, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Olympic park bombing in Atlanta — led to calls by President Bill Clinton and other Democrats for a requirement that traceable “taggants” be included in explosives. The NRA was having none of it, and therefore neither was the GOP:

President Clinton’s attempt to pass an anti-terrorism bill … ran into the brick wall of National Rifle Association opposition. The most desirable item in Mr. Clinton’s proposal was a plan to make it easier to trace explosives by adding chemical markers known as taggants to black powder and gunpowder during their manufacture. The President, in deference to the powerful gun lobby, had already watered down his idea before it hit the House of Representatives. Then Republicans substituted a meaningless non-government study on the already exhaustively studied taggant issue.
The requirement never passed, and the NRA/GOP taggant blockade still hasn’t been broken, as we were reminded after the Boston Marathon bombing:

…As David Cay Johnston noted shortly after the Marathon attack:

But for the NRA-backed policy of not putting identifiers known as taggants in gunpowder, law enforcement could have quickly identified the explosives used to make the bombs, tracking them from manufacture to retail sale. That could well have saved the life of Sean Collier, the 26-year-old MIT police officer who was gunned down Thursday night by the fleeing bomb suspects.

If Marco Rubio is suddenly concerned about bombs, perhaps he’d like to announce his support for taggant legislation right now.

But that isn’t going to happen, is it?”

Hillary: I Don’t Say ‘Radical Islam.’ It ‘Doesn’t Do Justice’ To Good Muslims
Hillary Clinton explained why she won’t say “radical Islam.”

“Isn’t it a mistake not to say it plain? That the violence is being pushed by radical elements in their faith?”
“Well that’s another thing,” said Clinton. “‘Radical elements who use a dangerous and distorted view of Islam to promote their jihadist ambitions.’ I’m fine with that. I say it all the time.”

Supreme Court Deals Blow To Group Behind Planned Parenthood Videos
David Daleiden is not “pro-life” he is pro-birth and non-life just like most pro-birthers. So, Cecile Richards can be trusted after all aye Liz
http://www.newsweek.com/supreme-court-planned-parenthood-videos-401597
“The Supreme Court just dealt a blow to the Center for Medical Progress, a California-based anti-abortion group that released a series of videos in which Planned Parenthood employees appear to discuss the sale of fetal tissue.

David Daleiden, the pro-life auteur behind the videos, asked Justice Anthony Kennedy to block an order from a district judge to hand over the names of his organization’s supporters and donors. Kennedy denied the request, and Daleiden will have to provide the information to a California district court.

The National Abortion Federation has sued the Center for Medical Progress on the grounds that Daleiden’s allies infiltrated its meetings by lying about their identities; in the videos, CMP members posed as Planned Parenthood employees. Although the content of the videos shocked and offended many politicians, prompting a national outcry, the countercharge that the whole thing was a sting operation to discredit Planned Parenthood has gained momentum among pro-abortion activists and politicians.

“It’s time to end this shell game…. The key issue here is the disclosure of the identities of CMP’s supporters,” said California District Judge William Orrick, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Orrick wants Daleiden to release the names in order to find out who was given confidential information about the National Abortion Federation, and has dismissed the argument that First Amendment “freedom of association” rights protects the CMP supporters, who may have been privy to illegal dealings as Daleiden went undercover to expose the health care provider’s practices.

Daleiden’s attorneys have argued that releasing the names would put supporters at risk of “retaliation.”
The action on the lawsuit comes in the wake of a mass shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs that left three dead on the Friday after Thanksgiving.”

‘Accidentally’ Shoots Friend At Gun Show
Media sources and law enforcement deem unintentional shootings to be ‘accidents.’ So, guns don’t kill people, ‘accidents’ with guns do. It gets terribly confusing when they try to label it as anything but what it is: irresponsible.
http://www.foxnews.com/
“At the Arizona State Fairgrounds, a man was ‘accidentally’ shot by his friend with a semi-automatic handgun at a gun show.

KPHO reports:

Arizona Department of Public Safety detectives say that just after 11 a.m., there was an accidental discharge of a semi-automatic handgun.

A gun buyer had apparently been inspecting his recently-purchased handgun, when the weapon accidentally discharged, and the man’s companion was shot.

After the weapon discharged, the bullet struck the male victim in the upper left torso and then exited from his upper right torso.

The victim reportedly suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital.

The Crossroads of the West gun show held an event at the fairgrounds.

There is no word yet on whether any criminal charges will be filed and authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

The website for the Crossroads of the West gun show touts support for the National Rifle Association and it states the NRA is in ‘the business of freedom.”

That ‘freedom’ bullet had to pack a punch, huh?

Clinton Leads All Republicans In Match-Ups

https://politicalwire.com/2015/12/07/clinton-leads-all-republicans-in-2016-match-ups/

In one-on-one matchups, no Republican beats Hillary Clinton.

A new MSNBC/Telemundo/Marist poll finds Hillary Clinton leads the Republican presidential field in hypothetical general-election match-ups, with Ben Carson and Marco Rubio running the closest to her.
Clinton’s biggest lead is against current GOP frontrunner Donald Trump: She’s ahead of him by 11 points among all voters, 52% to 41%, and a whopping 42 points among Latino voters, 69% to 27%.

A Hit Attempt Against Kim Jong Un? Maybe!

http://theweek.com/speedreads/592712/north-korea-atwitter-over-alleged-assassination-attempt-kim-jong-un

A rumor is going around North Korea that a stack of explosives was found hidden inside the Kalma Airport on Oct. 6, allegedly planted to take leader Kim Jong Un’s life, NK News reports.

I like the later part of the article, where it speculates: “If North Korea’s SSD had found out the explosives which Kim Jong Un’s Supreme Guard Command had failed to locate, than the Supreme Guard Command might have been involved in the assassination attempt,” he said. “But, also, it might have been an SSD setup to win Kim Jong Un’s favor by setting up the TNT and pretending that they found it after the Supreme Guard Command had already swept the site.”

On Refugees and Immigration, Thomas Sowell wrote:

“The history of millions of European immigrants who came here in centuries past was fundamentally different from what is happening in our own times.

First of all, those immigrants were stopped at Ellis Island to be checked medically and otherwise, and were allowed to get off that island to go ashore only after they had met whatever legal standards there were. Otherwise, they were sent back where they came from.

More fundamentally, people came here to assimilate into the American society they found, not to become isolated enclaves of aggrieved foreigners, demanding that Americans adjust to their languages, their values and their ways of life.”

Anybody want to fill me in? Why would Israel export $400,000 in gold to North Korea?

http://news.yahoo.com/israel-exported-gold-north-korea-154440382.html

Jerusalem (AFP) – Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold has been exported from Israel to North Korea despite a UN ban, an Israeli parliamentary committee said Thursday.

The Knesset’s economics committee said it would tighten restrictions on trade with the authoritarian state after learning that $400,000 of gold was exported after a 2006 UN ban.

$400 Large isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things, but it’s nothing to sneeze at either. The article was very thin on details. Has anybody here ever heard anything? And if you’re sending gold, what are you getting in return? Meth, weapons and herbal remedies, as well as water these days. Sounds more like a medium to large bribe than anything else.

End Of New York’s Stop And Frisk Means Less Violence
The decline of stop and frisk has led to the decline in shootings and murders in New York.

Wasn’t it the GOP mayor/leadership that started this stupid “Stop and Frisk?” Thank goodness for the reform-minded Democratic mayor Bill de Blasio

http://gawker.com/as-stop-and-frisks-have-gone-down-in-nyc-so-have-shoot-1747345497
“The idea that New York City is in the throes of a historically or even notably dangerous and criminal era is a myth fabricated largely by the knuckleheads at the New York Post. More evidence to the contrary: In the years since stop-and-frisk began its great decline, murders and shootings in the city have gone down too, not up, according to new NYCLU analysis.
The gist of the data is this: between 2011 and 2014, the frequency of stop-and-frisks dropped by 93% in the city, thanks to public outcry, a federal lawsuit, and the election of reform-minded mayor Bill de Blasio. Over that same time period, murders and shootings dropped precipitously as well. As the NYCLU notes, that last part is especially important, because according to stop-and-frisk supporters, the seizure of guns and subsequent reduction in gun violence was the whole point of the program…”

From the article: “Jerusalem (AFP) – Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold has been exported from Israel to North Korea despite a UN ban, an Israeli parliamentary committee said Thursday.

The Knesset’s economics committee said it would tighten restrictions on trade with the authoritarian state after learning that $400,000 of gold was exported after a 2006 UN ban.

David Houri, an Israeli tax official, told a committee hearing Wednesday the gold was traded in the years after the ban was introduced, Israeli media reported.”

It doesn’t sound to me like “Israel exported gold”, as the title would imply.
It sounds like individuals living in Israel did it, and the tax official caught it.

“And if you’re sending gold, what are you getting in return? Meth, weapons and herbal remedies, as well as water these days. Sounds more like a medium to large bribe than anything else.”

Well, the DPRK supports the Palestinians and there are all sorts of people living in Israel.

“Benjamin Netanyahu has joined a long list of international leaders to reject Donald Trump’s comments about Muslims,”

Can anybody clearly explain what Trump said that was so bad?

Difficulty: No explanation will be meaningful unless it is preceded by the exact quote it refers to… as incorrectly summarizing and attacking the non-existing concepts as the media and world leaders are doing is not connected to reality.

All Trump said was we should halt the import of a particular classification of immigrants, visa holders, and refugees until we learn how to vet them properly. He said it rather gormlessly; but he was not, strictly-speaking, unAmerican in his approach. There is a law on the books since 1952 that might apply. And Jimmy Carter did roughly the same thing in 1980.

The jackwagons who immediately rose in opposition to Trump (and the vile epithets, intentionally dishonest misquotes, misinformation about the actual laws involved, and death threats from the ACLU) are of a sort that I’m beginning to soften my opposition to the Hairpiece.

Dang it!

If vetting means we are going to expect immigration and intelligence agencies to sign off with absolute certainty about an immigrant’s complete background and intentions then that will make immigration impossible.

We may also be diverting resources from where they are really needed. Radicals don’t have to immigrate when Americans citizens that don’t fit a profile can become radicalized.

If one immigrant class is known to be much more dangerous than others, then why not restrict immigration from the parts of the world where they are a majority of the population?

It probably wouldn’t divert resources from other more important areas if we weren’t spending any money on administering immigration services to those countries. I would think that would save money.

People are presenting a false argument on Trump’s proposal violating freedom of religion. Freedom of religion applies to U.S. citizens and immigrants already in the U.S.

I can’t see how America has any obligation to uphold constitutional rights of those who don’t have constitutional rights.

As i recall, Constitution protections don’t apply to non-citizens in America… e.g. they cannot buy a gun… but they have a right to due process… e.g. deportation hearings.

Non-citizens have no constitutional protection outside of America and have no right to due process… e.g. courts have upheld arbitrary visa denial.

The first thing to understand… America has absolutely no real obligation to take non-citizen refugees… and even less obligation to take refugees who strive to maintain a lifestyle and values counter to America’s traditions, common cultures, and intetests.

A mistake that is (intentionally) being made is that Islam is a political ideology as much as a religion.

A proposal to “ban Muslims”… non-citizens with no rights to begin with… is not “discrimination based on religion” as it is being misrepresented… but protection against an openly hostile ideology no different than what has been successfully implimented against anarchists, Nazis, communists, gangster affiliates, and narcos throughout American history.

There are truly needy refugees from around the world who would embrace American opportunity and lifestyle and move the country foreward. Even Christians from these regions, who are unquestionably persecuted, would make a better choice than Islamisists which appear to frequently pass on their dangerous and violent political views to their first native-born generation.

It is hard to understand how anyone can argue with this.

Jeb Bush just came out with his plan to deal with refugees…

“We should have a temporary ban on refugees coming here until it’s clear that there aren’t any terrorists embedded.”

Too late, Jeb. Nice idea, though.

Some Arab nations (or at least, nations with a Muslim majority) have taken in refugees. The UAE has taken in about a quarter of a million of them (for a nation with a total population under 6 million, that is a lot…100,000 more than Germany, though I’m not saying they belong in Germany if we’re going for accuracy here it should be mentioned).
Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan have all taken in over a million refugees.
Saudi is on the brink now. They are in a very very precarious position and have been for a while now.
Remember at the beginning of the year ISIS killed the Saudi General in charge of the multi-billion dollar Saudi effort to secure the northern border against ISIS. That was a pretty significant target, and the attackers knew exactly when the general was going to be at the outpost so it’s likely that the Saudi military is rife with ISIS sympathisers and/or members.
If so, the Saudi military may melt away when facing jihadis (or switch sides).

“As far as them being concerned about ISIS infiltrators, isn’t that same problem we would have? “

Most definitely. I don’t think we should take them either.

Ummm… no. They were created by al Qaeda. Who kicked them out for being to brutal to Muslims. Next.

In June of 1876, George Custer’s command suffered 52 percent casualties (most killed) because he made unwarranted assumptions about his opponents actions versus preparing against their capabilities. He rejected reinforcements including additional cavalry and light artillery.

In January 2014, President Obama infamously proclaimed that ISIS was the JV team, nothing to worry about… And then they took over much of Syria and Iraq.

This year, just the day before a couple (who were apparently quite clear online about their extremist beliefs and yet were never interviewed even once during either the Fiancee Visa or Temporary Greencard process) shot up the husband’s innocent coworkers at an office Holiday Party, the President assured us ISIS was “contained.” We later learned, of course, the wife had sworn allegiance to ISIS.

And of course the President belittles anyone who dares to claim the healthy males of military age might not really be helpless refugees intent on assimilation into our culture… In spite of all the evidence to the contrary here and in Europe.

The Lakota and Cheyenne killed Custer and then suffered for it. There was a lot of blood and death and ill-will that has survived all of the original decision-makers and their children.

President Obama’s missteps will result in a lot of blood and death and ill-will that will survive all of the decision-makers and their children.

And none of it had to be.
