Welcome to the Anthropocene ❗ ‘Case is made’ for Anthropocene Epoch
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-35259194
“There is little doubt now that we have entered a new geological age, believes an international scientific panel.

The team, which has been tasked with defining the Anthropocene, says humanity’s impacts on Earth will be visible in sediments and rocks millions of years into the future.

Humans have made an indelible mark on Planet Earth in a very short period of time

The researchers are working towards a formal classification of the new epoch.

An open question is the formal start date, which some panel members think could be the 1950s.

This decade marks the beginning of the “Great Acceleration”, when the human population and its consumption patterns suddenly speeded up.

It coincides with the spread of ubiquitous “techno materials”, such as aluminium, concrete and plastic.
It also covers the years when thermonuclear weapons tests dispersed radioactive elements across the globe. Their long-lived activity will still be apparent to anyone who cares to look for it hundreds of millennia from now.”

I heard apologies on AFN radio this morning because viewers in the Yongsan area did not get to see the New England v. Denver playoff game. They said the problem was miscommunication with the telecom signal provider; LG-U.

Hopefully, there will be no more miscommunications for the Superbowl.

Emergency Water in Flint Not Reaching the Undocumented, Poor, and Homeless
http://gawker.com/emergency-water-in-flint-is-not-reaching-undocumented-i-1755064402
“The logic behind this, I guess, is so that people from neighboring towns can’t come to Flint and take water bottles not meant for them, but those people have access to clean water, so what would they care? In any event, this system leaves out a whole a strata of people: poor folks, the homeless, and, primarily, undocumented immigrants.”

“Trump, as Sikh Protester Was Removed: ‘He Wasn’t Wearing One of Those Hats, Was He?’”

“UPDATE: Based on the C-SPAN/MSNBC video below, it appears that Trump was talking about a Make America Great Again hat when he made the comment, and one of the protesters only happened to be wearing a turban.”

Nothing to see here… as usual.

“Creator of Planned Parenthood videos indicted in Texas”

It appears the video makers engaged in illegal activity by trying to buy baby parts while the Planned Parenthood people talked a lot of smack but never quite got far enough in the deal to actually sell baby parts…

…reminding us that there is a difference between a court of law and a court of justice and a difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law.

Ross Perot and his wife are (were?) on the board of directors of PP. That’s more juice with the court system than snarky blog reporters.

And besides. PP are there “to protect the children”… 🙄

I’m confused……

It’s okay to talk about selling baby parts but it’s not okay to talk about buying them?

Anywho, if the whole thing really goes to court there will be a discovery phase and people will also have to testify under oath. It will be interesting to see what each side has to say when they can be held accountable for it.

And what of the “Sagebrush Revolution?” You guys heard the latest, I assume. One of them poor fellers went and got himself kilt. Not to seem morbid, but I’d like to see the dashcam video on that. I imagine the Feds really did give him every chance to surrender since they don’t want any possibility of a rallying cry for any deaths in this situation. I get the sense they won’t have to worry about it anyways. Nobody’s paying attention to federal over reach anymore.

@8 Update,
Carly Fiorina and GOP frozen in denial over hoax video indictments: “Planned Parenthood has been trafficking in body parts”

“But despite that legal stake in the heart of the bogus crusade against the organization (and countless of other state investigations that have cleared Planned Parenthood), both Fox News and several of the Republican presidential candidates remain in denial, continuing to spout their false allegations of illegal fetal tissue trafficking and defending the indicted anti-abortion activists.”

Wounded Warrior Project has never gotten any of my $$$ I can proudly say…
Wounded Warrior Project accused of wasting donation money
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/wounded-warrior-project-accused-of-wasting-donation-money/
“Army Staff Sergeant Erick Millette, who returned from Iraq in 2006 with a bronze star and a purple heart, told CBS News he admired the charity’s work and took a job with the group in 2014 but quit after two years.
“Their mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors, but what the public doesn’t see is how they spend their money,”

Millette said he witnessed lavish spending on staff, with big “catered” parties.

“Going to a nice fancy restaurant is not team building. Staying at a lavish hotel at the beach here in Jacksonville, and requiring staff that lives in the area to stay at the hotel is not team building,”

According to the charity’s tax forms obtained by CBS News, spending on conferences and meetings went from $1.7 million in 2010, to $26 million in 2014, which is the same amount the group spends on combat stress recovery.”

I’m sure you could also “proudly” say you’ve never paid income taxes.

That does suck about Wounded Warriors, though. We give to that charity. But all charities seem to become rackets in time. Unfortunately.

Cruz Superpac offers $1.5M to Vets groups if Trump agrees to 1-on-1 debate with Cruz.

If Trump agrees I sure hope “Wounded Warriors” doesn’t get any of the $$$ 🙄

But Votevets.org wouldn’t accept any $$$ anyway as Trump is planning his own Vets donation collection(to counter Cruz Superpac offer via 1-on-1 agreed debate?).

Trump raising money for a good cause instead of yapping a bunch of pre-prepared soundbites of little substance that can be defended from every side depending on how things play out in the futute?

That it a new campaign strategy… and seemingly a sound one.

…certainly better than walking into the ambush prepared by Faux News designed to single him out with gotchas while promoting whichever establishment turd floats to the top.

Instead, Faux News gets stuck holding the bag of stupidity as advertizers flee, everyone else at the fake debate gets moved to the kiddy table, and Trump yet again owns the news cycle.

Wounded Warrior Project Spends Lavishly on Itself, Insiders Say

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/01/vets_accuse_wounded_warrior_project_of_failing_to_adequately_follow_up_on_cases.html

WWP spends more than 40% of its income on overhead – staff salaries, headquarters operations and other non-program expenditures. As a comparison, the American Red Cross spends 92% of its income on programs. The industry average is about 18%.

20 Years!
http://news.yahoo.com/south-korea-court-sentences-us-man-20-years-081452046.html

A South Korean court on Friday handed down a 20-year jail sentence on a US citizen charged while still a teenager with brutally murdering a Korean man nearly two decades ago.

Arthur Patterson, now 36, was extradited from the United States in September last year to face trial in Seoul on charges of murdering Jo Jung-Pil, who was stabbed multiple times with a knife in a fast-food restaurant toilet.

I assume he’s going Foriegners’ Prison, but I don’t expect it to be “Club Fed.”

What the hell set this off? Has anyone been following this in any detail?

“got shot in the back”

It was very nice tactics to have guys hidden in the treeline on both sides of the roadblock so when the truck would get stuck in the snow, they would have the drop on anyone who took cover behind the truck.

Looks like that old boy forgot “hands up, don’t shoot” is a two-way street.

At first glance, grabbing at his waistband wasn’t the right way to go about business… especially with a guy behind him.

Let’s see what the mob says… but it sure looks like this was a legitimate shoot.

Legitimate shoot of a man with legitimate grievances with the government.

Theirs probably wasn’t the right way to go about airing their grievances, but it may have been the only way to shed any light on it in the press. Probably all for nothing anyways, though.

So, who’s been to the Seoul Aquarium lately?
http://news.yahoo.com/shark-eats-another-shark-seoul-aquarium-124109558.html

An aquarium in South Korea has said its biggest shark has eaten another in what it has described as a “turf war”.

In the first such incident at Seoul’s COEX aquarium, an eight-year old female sand tiger shark, some 2.2 meters (7.22 ft) long, is said to slowly eaten a smaller five-year old male shark, about 1.2. meters in length.

More at the link.

…but I’m guessing sand sharks only date sharks in the Persian Gulf and along the coast of North Africa?

Just more reverse discrimination against those great whites.

I’m not sure if she’s employing a rather brilliant form of satire (it’s clearly a racist sign, calling them rapists)
or if she’s serious. Poe’s law applies.

“At first glance, grabbing at his waistband wasn’t the right way to go about business”

So the new buzz is that he wasn’t grabbing his waistband for a gun, which he didn’t carry in that area, but was actually moving his hands to a location he had just been shot.

Now this could be wishful thinking on the part of his supporters… but it is hard not to think of the old cop trick where they have someone up against the wall, discretely poke them with a pin, and after they jump, give them a beatdown while yelling, “Stop resisting, stop resisting!”… then release the video “proving” the cop’s actions were justified.

Soooo… time to search the video for evidence of a cop shooting prior to the outstretched hands grabbing the waist.

setnaffa
setnaffa

The helicopter’s “strategic” circling through the trees did a good job of eliminating the cops as suspects… Even if they were anyway. Now we’ll never really know.

BTW, the dead guy wrote a book: “Only by Blood and Suffering: Regaining Lost Freedom”

This *also* presents doubt as to whether he committed suicide-by-cop or he was assassinated by evil government agents. For example, before joining the takeover in Oregon (and allegedly announcing he” would not be taken alive”), he wrote, “We should be free to make stupid choices if we want and then be allowed to experience the full weight of those choices.”

The global financial system is unsustainable. Traumatic economic times are inevitable.

The uncaring importation of inferior Others, be they Islamic refugees in Europe or those flooding across America’s southern border, may be an intentional act by governments to prepare scapegoats so those in Washington DC and Wall Street keep attention away from themselves instead of winding up on the pointy end of a pitchfork.

Ah… my tinfoil hat slipped… all better now.

It is really all about government promoting the proven wonders of diversity to better the country.
