Went out to get a pizza last night and noticed that none of the three motorbike delivery boys were Korean. I’m not sure of their ethnicity; I’m guessing somewhere from southeast Asia. As few as just five years ago, other than 3D factory workers, that’s something you never saw. But along with the above example, now you see things like non-Korean gate guards at Yongsan, Chinese waiters are very common in small restaurants, and southwest Asians running halal kebab stands.

Times they are a changing!

A few years ago, Korea created a new path for getting an F class visa. That’s the same class as given to foreign born Koreans. For non-Koreans, as I recall, the requirement is to show you have about 30 million won (about $30,000) in a Korean bank account and a basic proficiency (I forgot the TOPIC level) in the Korean language.

North Korea has begun a national campaign against Western clothing and hairstyles.

Residents have been told to eschew jeans and piercings in favor of local garb.

The restrictions come ahead of the country’s Seventh Congress of the Workers’ Party, which will be held early May.

And of course, my favorite line:

Groups of teenagers who are loyal to the communist state, are on the lookout for people violating the dress code, according to local news website Rimjin-Gang. Rimjin-Gang said this includes people with the wrong length skirt or wrong shoe shape.

Looks like Fatty Kim just reread 1984, and also sees it as a How-To Guide.

Considering all the Honeypots China has set out for Americans, it’s not surprising to me that they would be cautious about foreigners looking to do the same. But what is funny to me is that they assume Chinese women are more likely to fall into a Honeypot than Chinese men. 😛

Whole Foods is reportedly counter-suing this guy and his lawyer. They say the CCTV backs up their side of the story that the guy iced “FAG” on the cake himself.

SEOUL, April 20 (UPI) — China is deploying troops along its border with North Korea, as Pyongyang could be preparing a fifth nuclear test ahead of its Seventh Party Congress in May.

The Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy, a nongovernmental organization in Hong Kong, announced Wednesday that Beijing has dispatched 2,000 soldiers along the border, South Korean news service Newsis reported.

China has deployed troops along the border when the norKs act up, and 3000 is not a tremendous number. Not enough to invade and depose, of course, but enough to let Fat Boy know he should knock it off.

Maybe these Chinese troops are “defending” against North Koreans trying to escape from North Korea. And if that’s the case, China would be doing North Korea a favor by fortifying the border. Why now one might ask? Because fat boy doesn’t want another big defection to hit the newswire right as he’s getting ready to hold this upcoming Korean Workers Party Congress where he no doubt is going to talk about how great things are going in the Workers Paradise.

“Louis Vuitton Fried Chicken Owner Fined in South Korea: A South Korean court has ordered a fried chicken restaurant owner to pay 14.5 million won ($12,500) for refusing to comply with a ban on using the luxury Louis Vuitton brand name for his outlet.

I understand why they’d want to sue. I don’t know about you, but when I think Louis Vuitton, the very first thing that comes to mind is South Korean fried chicken. And I suppose it doesn’t help that the chicken is served with a side of Giorgio Armani fries.

Good grief, if we allow something like this to continue, the next thing you know, we’ll be looking at Colonel Sanders’ Handbags. And what about all those women who’ve been walking around with a lump of fried chicken under their arms, thinking it was a luxury handbag? What’s to become of them?

All I can say is, this guy has to be one dumb cluck for thinking he could pull this off. On the other hand, $12,500 doesn’t sound like much of a fine. Hell, to a big company like Louis Vuitton, $12,500 is nothing but chicken feed. If there was real justice in the world, this guy would fry for this – or, at very least – be tarred and feathered.”

Don’t vote for any candidate who promises to steal something from someone else and give it to you. Instead, vote for a candidate who promises to leave you free to be as successful as you want to be. Who know who the first candidate will pick on next? The second is the type whose policies let America grow, and encourage folks to help each other.

SEOUL, April 21 (UPI) — A building in Pyongyang allegedly collapsed, leading to the death of “hundreds,” according to a source on North Korea.
According to the source, the accident was thoroughly covered up. The building was located on Ryomyong Street, or “Avenue of Dawn,” a new residential district near Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the mausoleum of Kim Il Sung.
The building, located between Kumsusan and the Youngsaeng Tower, a landmark in Pyongyang, was in the process of being taken down when the accident occurred.
“Due to lack of equipment and skilled labor, too much manpower was deployed at the site. Workers were dismantling the buildings with their bare hands,” the source said.
The building’s framework crumbled but no rescuers were deployed to the site for 10 days, the source said, making it likely many victims of the collapse died at the site.

Whatever it takes to make sure Fatty Kim looks good, I guess. No rescue for 10 days? Wow, even if people had survived the collapse, they would have died of thirst anyways.
