Students of Seoul National University in Seoul occupy part of the university’s main building on Oct. 10, 2016, to demand a stop to building a new campus. The school administration is planning to start construction of a campus in Siheung, west of Seoul, later this year, but students say the decision was unilateral, without prior talks with students who will be most affected by it. Affected how? Protesting because of what specifically? That’s some hack-a55 reporting there Yonhap, a slight step above Tw4tter minus the smugness and character limit. ❗
I used to joke with my wife that protesting was the Base State of South Koreans.
As a guess, I would suspect that Seoul National University has a bit of an Exclusive reputation. Everyone wants to get in, then goof off until they start their regular jobs at the Chaebols. If you go to SNU, you’re pretty much guaranteed a job, but if you go to one of the “lesser” colleges…
There are enough kids wanting to get into any college that these protests should be met with first a warning, then photography of those involved, then expulsion.
