South Korean Opposition Party Leader Says North Korea Will Never Give Up Nuclear Weapons
I think deep down most South Koreans know this guy is right, but prefer the current fantasy that things will be different this time with Kim Jong-un:
Hong Joon-pyo, the former chief of the main opposition Liberty Korea Party (LKP), has reiterated his opposition to the government’s North Korea policy.
Writing on Facebook on Saturday, the conservative politician, who is visiting the U.S. at the moment, argued that North Korea’s attitude has not changed at all.
He said that in order to seek a breakthrough in the Cold War situation on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and compromise, a change in the other side’s attitude and posture is required.
But Hong insisted that North Korea has not changed at all and is only putting on a show, adding that leading the South Korean public to believe the North has changed could bring about an even bigger catastrophe.
The former LKP chief said that North Korea will never give up its nuclear program. He added that if it did attempt to, leader Kim Jong-un would immediately be purged by his hawkish military. [KBS World Radio]
That is the most truthful statement from South Korea in a long time. Someone sees the Emperor isn’t wearing any clothes.
While many South Korean people continue to keep their heads buried in BS and hypocracy; finally some words of wisdom. The fat piece of shit (KJU) needs to be assassinated and then deal with the outcome. It’s always possible that it could get better.
Trump gave the norks a chance. It’s up to them to choose whether to be an example or a success.
And just like politicians everywhere, I don’t trust Hong to be any more truthful than Moon without evidence.
This is one of the reasons why he lost so big in the elections. Koreans think he’s an old fart who is against peace in Korea.
Hope Koreans enjoy the high cost of “peace” and the end of their Mirscle on the Han. For once, Hong is actually talking sense.
When a politician talks sense, it means you just haven’t yet figured out his angle to mislead you.
Anyway…
North Korea hasn’t tested a nuke or fired off a longer range missile. That may or may not be “success”… but it is better than the trajectory they were on for 24 years of Clinton, Bush, and Obama.
They have been shown the stick and offered the carrot.
Now they are in the long decision-making process to decide where to go from here.
