Does the US Constitution Need New Amendments?
|Does anyone want to comment on the proposed US Constitutional changes proposed by Emanuel Pastreich in the Korea Times:
The rapid shifts in American politics demand that we revise our aged constitution so that it better reflects the reality of contemporary institutions. If we fail to take such a brave step, we run the serious risk that our politics and practices will grow so completely out of tune with the constitution that it will lose what remains of its tattered legitimacy. Here is a modest proposal for constitutional amendments that can be quickly ratified. [Korea Times]
You can read the rest at the link, but he is right about Amendment 29.
One assumes EP is writing sarire; but he’s not very funny, falsely conflates the goals of of the major parties, and generally betrays his hatred of the American Constitution. That level of sarcasm applied to Presidents generally mans the current officeholder is somehow to blame for not being more like the previous one.
What he missed was that Trump is Obama’s actual lwgacy Trump is the reaction to weaponizing the IRS against the Tea Party. And thd next step, if things don’t change, will be much less kind and playful.
EP should remain an expatriate and shut up about ropics on which he neither has knowledge or “skin in the game.”
Of course, that’s just my opinion offered in response to his; but this isn’t the 18th Century and he’s no Thomas Paine.
Sorry about the typos.. I need to get my glasses fixed.
