While continuing my upward climb from laid-off 60-something recovering from cancer, I accepted a job offer and completed a Security+ class this week. I need to study a bit harder to complete the certification while learning the new job.

I want to give thanks to the Lord for all the good things and point out that frankly, if I can do this, the rest of you can, too.

Especially if you still have a security clearance. Mine expired before Reagan was elected.

Good luck Set! I did it a few years ago and passed first time. Took the week-long prep class with a bunch of young navy ITs I work with. While I passed the exam, three of the youngsters did not. I think the trick was just old fashioned study habits: With a BOOK, highlighter, paper, pencil, and memory drills…lather, rinse, repeat. The guys who didn’t pass either didn’t study much or just used online cheat sites. I spent two solid weeks at the kitchen table studying.

Drunk ajusshi tries(?) to punch an airline attendant; airplane returns to HNL after 4 hrs into an 11 1/2 hr flight to ICN (Hawaiian Air 459). For the love of God, just keep going!! That’s nearly half way, and he has to be returned to Korea anyway.

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/02/28/unruly-passenger-forces-hawaiian-airlines-flight-return-honolulu/

This article caught my attention because that’s the same flight I take several times a year for TDYs. Just can’t get over turning around after 4 hrs in. Sheesh!

Mcgeehee, I would guess the airline knows that Korean cops will just give him a slap on the wrist, while US cops take a much dimmer view of that sort of shenanigans. They’ve probably had him on their flights before, and have had enough.

Setnaffa – for sec+I recommend you drop $99 and buy the Boson Sec+ exam simulator. Also, on the simulations make sure to read the questions carefully, as you may be able to reuse device protection for two categories. Also, look for extra tabs on the simulations that ask you to configure things. WEP is weak. WPA2 is great. The difference between XSS and CSRF is that with XSS you are passing code through to the server and with CSRF you are passing credentials through another website into a targeted website. Typically pr0n spammers and click bait sites will get you to do captchas and enter your e-mail so they can use CSRF to pass your credentials into a website they want to spam.

Another crazy Commie named Moon.

“The U.S. should push for policies with its allies, including South Korea, to seek an end goal of establishing a unified Korea, says a prominent NGO director.

“It should be the responsibility of the global community to help the Korean people, bring a closure to this chapter of colonialism and the Cold War of the peninsula, allow us to develop, fulfill our destiny to create a model nation,” Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Chairman Moon Hyun-jin said in an interview with The Korea Times on Feb 25.”

Of course! Everyone knows fighter pilots can’t get laid without roofies and rape.
And the whole system is against female pilots, female fighter pilots in particular.
No one wants to see them succeed.

Granted I was only an enlisted flyer; but I tend to doubt rape stories that take so long to percolate. Especially when felonies are thrown aboout, tarring dozens of innocent officers, and names are not named. It’s really irresponsible at best.

I am not saying she’s a liar; but coming so soon after losing an election to an actual nutcase, maybe McSally needs some time to compose herself before turning into an assault weapon against the USAF.

This type of thing really makes me question her whole resume.

Thank you Liz.

BTW, I apologize if my previous comment was offensive to you. I know some fighter pilots are jerks. Like the guy who grounded all the B-52 gunners, for example. I just tend to react negatively to “one of those guys raped me but I won’t say which one” stories.

No problem Setnaffa, I agree 100 percent. My post was intended to be sarcasm. As occupations go, there are few who are more encouraged and protected than military females and military female pilots in particular. I don’t believe her at all, and I’ve seen a lot through the years. Particularly the last five. There was a female fighter pilot on a TDY at Homestead a few years ago who fabricated an assault. The Miami-dade police got involved and the forensic team determined she was never assaulted and had ripped her own shirt and kind of slammed her face again the wall to feign an injury. They wanted to prosecute. The USAF protected her. They’d found she’d had a history of making these claims at other bases, so they started a file. No disciplinary action at all. That’s just one case. She was also threatening to write her memoirs (about some of the pilots she dated). I could go on a long while, she is not unique.

This sucks

My spouse should really run for office. As a Democrat. They love those born on the 4th of July “redemption” type stories. He really hasn’t taken enough advantage of the race card in his life. He can talk about the “fighter mafia” and how it was a “white boys club”. He’ll wear a hat that says, “first generation brown”. And answer every valid question with “don’t be racist!” or alternately, “that’s racist” and, “do you know how many of my people died on floaties trying to get here?!?!” Any time someone brings up the past…”Wait, you’re a lifetime NRA member..” he can just say, “that’s what all the white people did and I was denying my heritage”. He’ll start using a heavy hispanic accent and say he that before he was using a fake white accent. He’ll make statements like, “the first thing I learned in the military is, they lose 40 trillion dollars every year!!!”
I’ll bet he can get 50 percent of the vote that way. Ted Cruz was doing it wrong. And at the very least, surely Netflix will offer us 8 figures like the did moronic AOC.

Anyone remember the Alaskan Airlines pilot who was fired from his job a few months back? They posted a picture of the co-pilot he’d “raped”, complete with image of him toasting the camera with a yellow solo cup, looking inebriated, her snappy and professional, smiling in her uniform. Story was similar to all the others, they’d been drinking she got blackout drunk. No one bothered to wonder why a Captain who had been flying for the over 20 years would drug his co-pilot the media just painted the story and the masses demanded Alaska air fire him. Next trip, she did the same thing….got blackout drunk, missed the flight and blamed it on sexual assault. She’s flying in Hawaii now but the Captain for Alaska air that she shamed publicly can’t find work anywhere due to the media circus.

Well, I have lost whatever respect I formerly had for both NASA and Forbes Magazine. I paraphrase Cordell Hull (played by George Macready) in the movie Tora Tora Tora:

“In all my 60 years of of life, I have never seen a magazine so short, yet crowded with so many infamous falsehoods and distortions, on a scale so huge that I never imagined until today that even the US government was capable of uttering them.”

If rape really happened in the military it would have been in ‘A Few Good Men.” The nurse in “In Harms Way”, and village girl in “Platoon” were just asking for it. I never saw a fighter jock in any screen adaptation rape anything. Reaching out and touching God sort of thing. Slipping the surly bonds of earth.

Ole Tanker, you know those were Hollywood films, right? Those rapes were essentially every bit as real as that email from the Nigerian Oil Minister who wants to give you a million dollars to help him move money out of the country…

BTW, rapes involving officers do happen: https://taskandpurpose.com/air-force-colonel-child-rape

But that it happened without naming the rapist slimes every male officer that ever served with McSally. And that’s frankly conduct unbecoming an officer, also a potential felony. Officers “serve at the pleasure of the President” and can be recalled to active duty and court-martialled.

McSally should try to be more honorable.

Well, GI, if we ever go on the campaign trial and you see a bunch of folks wearing “first generation brown” hats, please delete that post. And know that if elected, he’ll totally go conservative and be a force for good. 😆
The problem with these allegations is…the media just runs with it. Thousands of people were demanding his head on a platter. It was front page headline news even on FOX. That’s what people remember. His life is ruined. If exonerated, it’s just crickets…they don’t even notice.
McSally won’t name the person because she has no evidence to back her claims and she doesn’t want to be sued. She’s hoping to reap the political benefit of being a self described victim survivor (lots of articles touting her bravery out there now…no one dares question) without the burden of proof or accountability.

Liz

Yep, Hundreds.
A few weeks ago I was listening to drunk flight attendant stories. One talked about a night she got blackout drunk and could not remember, but the next day there were all sorts of photos sent to her. Apparently she’d been all over New Orleans. Here she was eating lobster, here she was in front of bars 1,2,3,4,5,,,,,smiling with friends. She had no recollection of any of this. The vast majority of these cases are related to drinking.
This is harmful to real victims. I mean, actually harmful.

In a bit of wildly-unrelated, probably non-PC fun that happened back when Jimmy Carter was President:

On my first official day of Basic Training at Lackland AFB, our flight and the guys from across the landing were wearing our brand new green duds and brand new haircuts waiting for the Dentist. One of the Dental Office junior enlisted comedians came out and asked which one was the “sister flight”? Without a look around, without prior arrangement, without hesitation, we all yelled “They are!”

It apparently caught the other side napping, because their response was weaker than the recent democrat protests against anti-Semites in their ranks.

I guess they could all use #MeToo hashtags since then. That moment broke their spirit. Even on graduation day they were a bit listless.
