USFK Tightens Security Due to Unspecified Threat Made on Social Media
Security has been tightened at bases in South Korea:
The U.S. military in South Korea increased security at bases across the divided peninsula Friday after receiving a potential threat.
Security measures were stepped up after American law enforcement officials notified U.S. Forces Korea of the potential threat by an individual against the installations, according to a USFK announcement posted on social media.
“Organizations from USFK, [South Korea] and law enforcement are cooperating to appropriately assess the credibility of the threat,” it said. “During this time, you may see increased force protection measures.”he statement didn’t elaborate. USFK officials declined to publicly specify the measures or elaborate on the potential threat due to the security concerns involved, but they urged people to be vigilant.

It’ll be nice if and when South Koreans realize the US isn’t there to steal their 4500 years of culture, we’re just there to prevent their ill-temtempered northern cousins from stealing it. If they wanna give it away, wewe probably won’t stop ’em.

Maybe the threat to USFK involves exposure of corruption in construction contracting.
That would be credible.
Does this mean that all the gate guards will be awake? Always seemed that 1 guy was always in the corner dozing regardless of time of day or night, unless of course they were expecting a CP to walk through or a VIP during the Duty day.
