U.S. Soldier Reportedly Assaults Taxi Driver and Steals Cab in Seoul

It looks like someone got really stupid in Itaewon this weekend and caused yet another Taxi Cab Related Incident. Via U.S. Army WTF Moments:

Here is what the USFK commander General Abrams had to say about this incident:

As I have always said every time the curfew has been lifted, is that just the large number of U.S. troops in Korea means that eventually a stupid or criminal incident will happen. If the command is not willing to absorb blowback from incidents like this, then why the lift the curfew in the first place?

I guess we will see if the curfew returns or not.

This is why we can’t have good things… 😥

Oh. Wait. It’s why that soldier will rue the day. And his platoon leader now has more paperwork. And his Battalion Sergeant Major knows his name and face. Rue. The. Day.

Unless the guy is LGBTQ, Muslim, Black, *and* Abrams’ wife’s recently orphaned nephew, he’s going to learn how pain can concentrate the mind.

Still, it could have been worse. They didn’t accuse him of wearing a MAGA hat and smiling while a Native American refrigerator repairman verbally a used him.

Can’t fix stupid. There are numerous Korean people and organizations focused on US bashing and they don’t need our help.

Toshio Pendarvi,

In support of Setnaffa, he didn’t seem to play the race card, but accurately pointed out that different standards have evolved for certain protected groups, which are based on race, nationality, ethnic identity, religion, actual gender, gender self-identification, or sexual orientation.

It is unlikely these reduced standards might apply in the case of drunkenly hitting a cop in a stolen taxi, but the double standards remain a valid point.

Then again, they might apply.

The poor guy’s inner woman trying to get out was causing him a great deal of mental strain… as transexualism is a normal expression of gender fluidity at the protest but a mental illness in front of the judge.

I think this is incorrect: “LGBTQ, Muslim, Black, *and* Abrams’ wife’s recently orphaned nephew” getting special treatment, but I did get a laugh out of the nephew bit. At any rate, the curfew will return over this incident. The Commanding General has to do that or he is stuck with egg on his face for issuing an empty threat when he lifted the curfew such a short time ago.

Here’s an idea: In Japan, they mark time using the emperor’s reign name. For example, in 1941 it was the Showa Era named after the jackass/war criminal who was emperor at the time, and now the current era is Reiwa. Well, let’s start dividing time (“eras”) for the US military in South Korea by the name of the chump who causes the curfew to return. For example, say the underage nitwit in question is named “Angus Horst”, 1 August 2019 will then be “August 1st of the Horst Curfew”.

Here’s a better idea: The drinking age in the Republic of Korea is 20 years. The drinking age for the US military, both on and off base, is 21 years. That’s inane and years ago, the military realized that, making the drinking age on bases within a certain distance of a jurisdiction with a drinking age lower than 21 the age of that other jurisdiction and the drinking age both on and off base overseas the drinking age of the host country.
