Leftists Break Into U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Seoul

This isn’t the first time that the safety of the U.S. ambassador has been put at risk with protesters scaling the walls to get inside:

Members of a progressive association of Korean university students stage a protest inside the residence of U.S. Ambassador Harry Harris in Seoul on Oct. 18, 2019, in this photo captured from the group’s Facebook account. (Yonhap)

The government requested Friday that law enforcement authorities beef up security around the US Embassy and the residence of the top American diplomat in Seoul after nearly 20 university students trespassed in his residence.

Earlier in the day, 17 students and members of a progressive civic group broke into the residence of US Ambassador Harry Harris in central Seoul by climbing over its wall using a ladder.

They staged a surprise protest criticizing Washington’s demand for a hefty rise in Seoul’s share of the cost for the upkeep of the 28,500-strong US Forces Korea. Police took the 17 and two others attempting to join them into custody for investigation.

You can read more at the link, but the government says they will deal sternly with for the break in, which I doubt.

That looks like a cop peeking out behind one of the pillars. The Korean government is obligated to protect this diplomatic facility. The ROK government should have provided sufficient security to deter or if necessary defeat an incursion of this scale. The ROK again appears to have fallen short of its obligations.

Diplomatic immunity means when you empty a couple of 30 round mags from your Glock 18 into the guts of whatever North Korean commando-like whatevers have stormed your compound, you go to work the next day and let Cleaning Ajuma worry about logistics.

, why do you persist with label of leftists on people that go against interest of your country?

There isn’t such in South Korea and your suggestion would result in what often GIKorea complains about, “anti-American” sentiment. Lets say that they were marines there and they gunned down the civilians, this would remind South Korea of Gwangju where soldiers massacred protesters. This protest is caused and is about Trump administration seeking to increase the cost of SMA by several times. It comes right after Harris subtly confirmed that those demands by the U.S. are true.

@ChickenHead If you want to gun down South Korean civilians that protest their country being nickel and dime by the U.S. then go ahead and cause anti-American sentiment there, make GIKorea’s nightmare come to life…

The statement by South Korean foreign ministry is extreme gaffe by asserting possibility of harm and attack when none of the students were armed nor is there basis to assert such motive.

Invading a diplomatic compound is a serious breach of international law, regardless of our fake croatroll. In fact, if any damage was done to personnel or property, it is an act of war.

The fact that the useful idiots were not “gunned down” is evidence of Moon’s approval.

I now believe we should stage an indefinite-length combat drill on Okinawa with all of USFK. And their equipment. After all, the RoK can take care of itself.

Kravata because in recent years those who claim allegiance to the left have largely, I say again l-a-r-g-e-l-y been the majority of perpetrators who’ve crossed the line away from civil discourse & disobedience. Gotta own it man (well if you’re on that side, dunno). As for the gun `em down’s, that’s just `Drop-talk; it was clearly a bunch of kids, no one would’ve been gunned down. Security does need to be reviewed and modified, after all South Korea does have a history of violent “things” happening to foreign officials.

Anyhoo… here’s a better photo of the ass-clown operation that is security there:

Smokes, Thanks for the picture link. The intruders scaled the walls right in front of the main gate. If you go on Google street view you can see the cage for the tennis court and that building in the background to verify that this happened right in front of the main gate. I bet there were several cops just standing there twiddling their thumbs while this intrusion unfolded.

The Koreans also did a top job protecting Ambassador Lippert. Some things never change.

This is the second intrusion in the last 13 months. The intruders also attempted to forcibly enter Habib house.

“If you want to gun down South Korean civilians that protest their country being nickel and dime by the U.S.”

What if you want to gun down criminal home invaders with unknown intentions in a country with a history of deadly violence against US diplomats?

But you are correct.

That is a bit over the top.

The proper response is not to shoot a home invader in Korea… it is to rape them.

It proportionately conveys your displeasure, serves as a deterrent, and won’t be a big deal legally…

…especially as they came to you!

That’s an even more iron-clad defense than “they didn’t resist enough”.

I will post my “Trespassers Will be Raped. Unlawful Entry Implies Consent” sign tonight to insure I am legally covered in case I have to fire some love bullets from the old meat rifle into some sneaky little leftist coeds.

Sometime I get set in my ways and see violence as the only appropriate response to violence. But you and Jesus are right.

Some problems are best solved with love.

Of the 19 invaders, the ROK government released 12 without charges and moving forward with charges against 7.

“Police released 10 of the 19, but requested arrest warrants for the other nine. In response, the prosecution filed requests with the court for arrest warrants for seven of the nine protesters.”
