The kimchi making gloves are really going to protect this kid.

It’s already too late to stop. Five million fled from Wuhei — a city of eleven million — before the quarantine. Where are they? Many flew to Thailand. Where else? They and those they infected are everywhere already. Kinda like tracking down pirated copies of Windows.
Remember Ebola? This ain’t that bad; but there’s still no cure unless you’re stronger than the virus.
Here’s a song to cheer you up a bit… Just be sure to wash your hands before you eat or touch your face.
Chorus:
It was the Flu pandemic
And it swept the whole world wide
It caught soldiers and civilians
And they died, died, died!
Whether they’re lying in the trenches
Or lying in their beds
Twenty million of them got it
And they’re dead, dead, dead!

Overreaction? Only when something like this is in the news.
Otherwise, you still encounter too many people who give no consideration to covering their mouths when they cough and sneeze in public places.

JoeC, you’re 100% on the mark.
Last time I took the subway, some old geezer was hacking up something from deep in his chest and spitting it on the floor. Roughly 18 inches from my shoes. No one else appeared to notice or even think it was odd.
Busses aren’t too much better; but you’re not stuck in a dark tunnel with ancient tuberculous CHUDs (or just normal old guys who don’t have the health or energy to be polite). And with my surgically-altered maxillary sinus being prone to minor infections, I tend to avoid crowds anyway.
I’d have always taken the black taxis; but my wife and in-laws do the travel planning in the land of the Choco-Pie…

Yeah… so… the level of government activity on this Xi Disease outbreak is something rarely seen except in cases where government is protecting itself.
And now the big companies are getting in on the action.
It’s like they are all worried about something we can only suspect.
Those of you with Cosco cards might stock up on non-perishables. It might be nice to have a couple month’s worth of food and water in case supply chains break down or it is prudent not to leave the house until the carriers get better or die off.
I have seen enough plague and zombie movies to know how this works.
