Cases of Coronavirus Infections in South Korea Nears 1,000
|The virus continues to spread in South Korea with no hints of slowing down yet:
With the number of confirmed coronavirus cases nearing 1,000 on Tuesday, South Korea vowed to maximize its containment measures in the southeastern city of Daegu and neighboring North Gyeongsang Province, where some 800 cases have been reported so far.
The 144 additional cases brought the nation’s total infections to 977, according to the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). It marked a more than 30-fold surge since Feb. 18, when the number stood at 31.
Two clusters of infections — at a branch of a religious sect in Daegu and a hospital in the neighboring county of Cheongdo — have continued to expand, accounting for about 70 percent of the total cases in the country.

Currently, coronavirus.app shows South Korea at 977 infected, 22 recovered, 11 dead.
Using CH’s math shows a gruesome 33.333 percent mortality rate.
Hubei, with 64,786 infected, 18,971 recovered, and 2,563 dead, doesn’t seem so bad… “only” about 12% dead…

Setnaffa, that is true only if you strictly go by the numbers given out by the official party line of the government of PRC. The real numbers on China aren’t available.
Just add a zero or two. @Larry.
We have crossed over the 1000 mark:

outh Korea’s coronavirus case total jumped well into four figures on Wednesday as authorities reported 169 new infections, taking the overall tally to 1,146, by far the largest outside China.
An 11th person had died of the disease, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) added in a statement on its website — a Mongolian man in his 30s who became the first foreign national to fall victim to the outbreak.

Just wondering…are there any cases of the virus reported in North Korea?
Does someone honestly know why so many Pandemic Plagues in history such as the Bubonic in the 13th Century that wiped out 1/3rd of Europe, Spanish Flu, SARS etc. seem to start in China?
Before sewers were built in the cities, cities were population sinks.
So…hygiene is probably a big one.
They say li ing with livestock e.g. chickens, pigs in the residence) and eating wild animals get these viruses into the human population.
Whatever the reason lots of pathogens originate in China, the Chinese reaction to this one was unique. Immediate and seemingly way out of proportion for what would be expected (before so many were afflicted) for some strain of new cold virus of unknown etiology.
This is a country that will “accidentally” douse an entire village with toxic chemicals and then just disappear it. As soon as this thing hit a handful of people they quarantined a city the size of Manhattan and built a “hospital” virtually overnight.
We know what happened.
Mr. Ching Chong Ding Dong was working at the lab with bat pee and dollar store gloves with no face mask and then went to the wet market to pet the honey badgers.
They were Dollar General…asshole.
Who even knew to look for a “hangmoon” at Dollar General?

Have you ever been to China? The real mystery is why their language even as a word for hygiene.
That should read “…even has…”, not “…even as…” on my post above. Sorry.
