Poll Shows that Only 15% of South Koreans Believe Dialogue is Possible with the Kim Regime
It seems the South Korean public understands the reality of the Kim regime better than many elites in South Korea and the U.S.:
Nine out of 10 South Koreans think North Korea will not give up its nuclear weapons, but nearly half think the South should still seek dialogue with the North, according to a recent poll.
In an annual face-to-face survey of 1,003 adults conducted from May 20 through June 10 by the Korea Institute for National Unification, 89.5 percent said Pyongyang will not denuclearize, the highest since 2016.
Only 15.6 percent said they think dialogue and compromise are possible with the North’s Kim Jong-un administration.
Nevertheless, 45.7 percent think Seoul should keep trying — up from the previous survey in November 2019, when 38.1 percent thought so, but down from April 2019, when 51.4 percent did.

So I guess it’s similar to, “My wife is a serial cheater, and there’s no hope she’ll ever stop cheating, but I should work on our sham of a marriage, anyway, while she continues to do whatever she wants.” Very healthy attitude, that.
I think the whole East-Asian group vs. individual mindset is what’s causing the problem. The Norkistanis are allegedly “Korean just like us”; therefore, they are deemed more trustworthy than even those who died to save the RoK from their Stalin-approved invaders. Or those hated “Chrysanthemum Crowd” folks from across the “East Sea.”
The typical Korean would do something stupid if they believed “everyone else is doing it.” Because “one blood” or some such nonsense. It’s really the only serious fault I see in their traditional culture. Well, besides the whole “no crime because he was drunk” thing…

In other words, most South Korean people don’t give a sh*t about North Korea. Despite what the fanatics here calling for war, blood, and deaths, mixed in with their bitter racist diatribes. Notice their diatribes doesn’t differentiate the leftist Koreans from rightwing Koreans, so those rightwing Koreans who think Trumpean US right are their best friends should think twice.
Now back to the subject. Nearly 90% of South Koreans believe NK will never give up their nukes, and that’s precisely why dialogue and negotiation are needed, now more than ever, as this Nationalintrest.org article states,
