Anyone here ever get to do both?

Which was more “fun” and why?

All I had was one trip to “Red Flag” (didn’t get to stay in Vegas, just a 15 hour day trip from Upstate NY)… and a Navy F4 flew underneath our B-52 while we were under 500 feet…

That was a crazy thing to do; but what his active ecm did to my gunnery radar was almost magical…

No one really died, we both claimed to have shot the other down, so win-win…

I was in-country for TS-1985. I provided intel support to 8th Army. I also suffered through a few CPX UFL exercises during my time in Korea. One summer during a UFL, my and my intel team mates got bored and fed some bogus intel into the system just to see how the computer would handle it. Well, long story short, my team ended up watching as the simulation crashed and we got a 24-hour vacation while the guys at the CPX computer center reloaded and restarted the exercise scenario. Wanna know what we did? We gave the North a nuclear device which they promptly used against ROKUS forces. Because the simulations crashed, they were never able to trace who entered the info, but we all got a strict warning to NOT enter anymore bogus intel into the system or they would actively trace it and court martial everyone responsible.

I think the computers would explode with the number of Fatty’s new toys.

J6Junkie – You’re probably right. It was actually the NSA rep on our team that suggested we do it and said that he would take the heat if something blew up in our faces. He was a great guy that I ended up working with at SUSLAK a few years after that.
