Hyundai Announces Battery Replacement for Its Electric Vehicles Due to Fire Danger
|Not a good look for Hyundai’s EV program:
Hyundai Motor Co. said Wednesday it will replace batteries in some 82,000 Kona EV and two other electric vehicles sold globally due to potential fire risks, which could cost about 1 trillion won (US$899.7 million).
Hyundai will begin the replacement of the battery management system (BMS) in 75,680 Kona EVs, 5,716 IONIQ EV and 305 Elec City buses from March 29 in the domestic market and from April in overseas markets, the company said in a statement.

They all go through this phase. BTW, where are the batteries manufactured?
LG Chemical. Hyundai and LG Chem from South Korea were pointing their fingers at each other because none of them know what the problem is. But Tesla also uses the same LG Chem batteries and they don’t seem to have this fire issue. Anyway, Hyundai got so mad at LG Chem, they gave their next battery contract for the upcoming Ioniq 5 EVs to CATL of China and SK Hynix of South Korea.
So where are the batteries manufactured (not just assembled)? What city in what country?
They were made in RedNeck County, USA. So what’s your point?
So they were built in China. Thanks for playing.
