South Korea Feels Pressure from China to Not Join the “Quad”

As long as the Korean left remains in power I just don’t see them joining the “Quad” because of their near religious zeal of improving relations with North Korea. Additionally even if the Korean right was to regain power even they would be challenged to join the quad considering the heavy economic investment that Korean companies have made in China that would be impacted:

Korea may face tougher pressure from China to avoid joining the U.S.-led informal strategic group, as Beijing reportedly remains on high alert over Seoul’s possible participation.

Citing diplomatic sources, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported Saturday that Korea had received a number of inquiries from Chinese officials about whether it was considering joining the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or “Quad.” But the Korean government has so far said that there has been no invitation from Washington.

The report also said that Chinese diplomatic experts believe that if Korea were to join the Quad, it would be a significant challenge to China’s security in East Asia, while referring to the alliance as an “anti-China coalition” in the region.

Correct. Especially right after Korea bore the main economic burden of Chinese retaliations over THAAD in which the US did nothing to help Korea, other than charge ridiculous amounts of money – $1 billion for “lending” THAAD and $5 billion a year stationing their troops, trying to take financial advantage of a country that’s caught in between. Why should Korea put itself into another position like that, by helping the US who will then turn around and sell Korea down the river (while facing China’s wrath) if they don’t pay up. Even the right-wing aren’t that stupid.

So I suppose the solution is to pick up all the US toys, bring them back to the US. Then commie moon pie can go north, give kim fatty the third a big wet sloppy kiss and they can go hand in hand to emperor xi bow and grovel at his feet to become a vassal state as Korea was for centuries. We can then watch the 10th largest economy in the world be decimated and Korea become once again become a third world country and a vassal state getting scraps. Sounds like utopia to me…
Can’t remember the whole tradition, but make sure you break off the extra monkeys mounted on the palace as a tribute to xi when you do this.
