Workers cover up the traces of six major offices handling state affairs during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) with soil at Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul on June 1, 2021, to protect the remains ahead of the rainy season. The Seoul metropolitan government has engaged in the excavation work as part of a project to remodel the square and found the remains. (Yonhap)

Wow! That’s a really interesting find. , please keep up with this story as it develops. Even after Seoul was basically flattened during the Korean War, a little bit of history survives!

History is a very interesting subject. I wonder how many layers of history exist under the modern city. And how many were destroyed in some sort of Bauhaus frenzy (as happened in most countries in the 20th Century).

Now that relic has been unearthed, construction will be put on hold until the archaeologists have had their day.

Wonder how it will be displayed after construction is completed.
