Buying masks has become complicated. The preferred style is now the bird beak; flat front is out. And no self-respecting Korean would be caught dead in a blue paper mask (those are for the Chinese and homeless).

There are different sizes for men, women, and children.

Different colors: white, black, gray, beige, blue, burnt orange, et. Al.

And then there’s the holders and clips in more textures, colors, and varieties than you could shake a stick at.

Our cable service (in Seoul) features about 10 Home Shopping Channels; at any given time, HALF are selling masks.

Korea has been taken over by the Mask Industrial Complex.

@Mcgeehee, no one wants to be on the losing side of the Mask Gap.

And as to the Missile Gap, things are different than this LIFE Magazine illustration from 1959:

“And remember the Reason for the Season.”

The only time other than Halloween and Martin Luther King day when I can get by wearing blackface?

Hey GIKorea- is there a way to pull up old comments? Chickenhead is an excellent commenter and he usually gets a laugh out of me when I read his stuff. He made a comment some months back about soccer being a third world sport for third world people (or words to that effect). And, frankly, I want to steal that line and use it on a soccer fanboy at work.
CH, you need your own blog my man. You throw us some pearls dude. Keep em coming.

January 7, 2022: concerning cardiac events in sports stars somewhere around the transition from “fact check: no evidence of vaccines causing any heart issues” to “heart inflamation does happen but is exceedingly rare and most cases clear up quickly and without treatment”.

“Good! Sports has been too boring.

Soccer is a third world game for third world people… running around back and forth, getting nothing done, and pretending to be victims at any chance.

Watching them drop every few days puts a little thrill in the game and actually adds to the third world vibe of life being really cheap.

And running? Is running even a sport? How desperate do you have to be for entertainment to watch people run?

It might be entertaining if they had snatched a purse or something and were being chased by cops with Billy clubs. I guess I’d watch the Best Of season highlights video every year.

Anyway, I think these sportspeople should stop falling down on the job or whining around about a little heart inflammation and start promoting the vaccine a bit more. We aren’t going to keep everyone “up to date” on their vaccinations every three months if we don’t start seeing a bit more Safe and Effective around here.”

If I were to sex it up into a quote:

“Soccer is a third world game for third world people with a third world mentality… running around back and forth, getting nothing done, and pretending to be victims at any chance.

There appears to be no real skill, no clever tricks, and all temporary advances seem due to luck or greater dysfunction on the other side rather than any amazing ability by any participant. This is how the third world operates in everything from economy to warfare.

All of this is cheered on by people who are actually entertained by watching nothing get accomplished and have no expectations of accomplishment. They are excited at every pointless advancement and disappointed by every equal setback while nothing really gets accomplished. The third world had gone through centuries of this attitude.

If one side wins, it is such a narrow victory that luck generally plays a bigger roll than skill. Everybody cheers this tiny lucky accomplishment as if it has meaning and then returns to 14 hour days in the cane field.”

That is just off the top of my head and really should be thought out more for a real quote… with all key comparison points listed… but busy now.

However I should devote time to look up some old soccer story and make some new snide comment about soccer.

I dislike the Canadian PM’s policies; but Xi obviously can’t handle 1:1 conversations on camera. Even Trudeau makes Xi look weak.

For those of you following the situation in Ukraine, maybe someone can answer a question none of the Ukraine Fanbois can answer.

…stupid went from global warming to vaccines and now it is stuck on Ukraine.

Yeah… I know… Russia has been running out of missiles and ammo since last April… a clearly false statement that has even been vomited up by some pretty (formerly) respectable analysts who are clearly now on the party line.

(I am old enough to remember when supporting the Thing was only something for stooges and other assorted useful idiots.)

Anyway, Russia’s imaginary $20,000 Iranian drones have done a great job at non-imaginary destruction of Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure… with the American taxpayer spending one million dollars for a 60% chance of shooting one down (and a non-zero chance of killing Polacks).

Russia is now engaging in American-style Shock & Awe (if you bought it on Wish)… but it is still working. With a year lead time, replacing those transformers might take Ukraine a while to return to the Industrial Age. It will serve as a good test on how to manage another Carrington Event (hint: screwed).

The first wave was a bit of a wakeup call… only really destroying Ukraine’s surplus electricity capacity… meaning all those stupid Eurotrash countries that virtue-signaled their way to Green and shut down their nuclear plants… so they could buy nuclear-generated electricity from France and Ukraine a few hundred miles away… now will be short of electricity as well as gas.

Now 3 Ukrainian nuclear reactors are offline with no real hope of a startup.

And like school children yelling “fight fight fight”, Europe and USA and NATO and western media and everyone has kept cheering on Zelensky… and, being in on it, he has played his part… “On to Crimea!”

Certainly EVERYONE is aware Ukraine has no hope… and if they someone how got some, they would get nuked on the battlefield.

So now, it looks like Russia will just keep doing what they are doing… and pretty soon most of Ukraine will be dark and cold and have no running water or sewer. Then comes disease. Then Poland takes their traditional lands back.
T he Baltic retards will start looking at what crums they can scavenge. Belarus might even consider an expanded border.

Or maybe I am wrong.

So the question is: What is Ukraine’s endgame here?

Like the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, some in Ukraine may believe that if they can just hold out a little longer, some help may arrive.

Like a gambling addict who has never yet learned “the odds favor the House” and “the dice don’t remember,” some may think they just need one more time.

And like Russia has always been, even under the Soviet “Czars,” the grinding attrition that chews up men, women, and children will continue until Ukraine fails or Putin dies. Life is more valuable to Western Culture than it is in the East.

“Drang nach Osten” failed, after initial successes, with the full weight of Germany (and conquered territories) behind it against a very much weakened USSR. I have no doubt this war will cost the Russians more than they can really afford; but I don’t think they have committed more than 10 percent of themselves yet, mostly just allied troops.

Frankly, I see Winnie XI smiling about this freeing up his northern and western flanks if he decides to get squirrelly about Taiwan.

I just realized the question about my quote received approximately double the positive responses as the actual quote.

There is no justice in this world.
