Trump Picks Fox News Personality as the Next Secretary of Defense

Peter Hegseth has long been an advocate for U.S. troops, however he has to be one of the least qualified Secretary of Defenses we have ever had. With that said anything considered “woke” in the military is likely to be gone considering his past statements:

– U.S. President-elect Donald Trump tapped Fox News Channel host Pete Hegseth to serve as his defense secretary on Tuesday, describing him as a “warrior for the troops and for the country.”

Trump issued a statement on the designation of Hegseth, an Army veteran with tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan, as America’s next defense secretary is tasked with handling a series of tough security challenges, including North Korea’s military threats, Russia’s war in Ukraine and instability in the Middle East.

The Pentagon chief post requires Senate confirmation.

“one of the least qualified Secretary of Defenses”

At first, that statement sounds resonable.

But it is uncler what qualification make a good Secretry of Defense.

Peter Hegseth served in Cuba, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was a little closer to valid concerns of the soldiers and American interests than many who have held the position. He has been an advocate for servicemembers at a level unseen in previous officeholders.

We may find he is over his head or his fresh perspective brings new energy to the job.

Let’s watch closely and see if his decisions make up for his lack of diversity.

Trump taps Kim Jong-un defender Pete Hegseth as Pentagon chief

“Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops and for the Country. Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in ‘America First,’” Trump wrote in a statement posted on Truth Social on Tuesday. “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down.”

This should be the final nail in the coffin. ROK Drop readers should start packing up and prepare to evacuate Korea when the order is given.

Call me old fashioned but this individual seriously lacks integrity, look up his two divorces, especially the second one. Trump was going to put him up to head the VA in 2017 but it didn’t go anywhere, also reportedly has a nepotism problem in hiring his brother for a low 6 figure position at a non-profit that the brother was unqualified for. Probably one of Don ‘jr’s buddies.

I admit I don’t know much about him, but he impresses me in this interview. Per “unqualified”…seems to me he is more qualified than a good number of former Secretary of Defenses. Ash Carter for example didn’t serve in the military at all. He didn’t even bother to meet with a single member of the joint chiefs his first six months in office.

“Call me old fashioned but this individual seriously lacks integrity”

I have thought about this for years. Back in the days of arranged marriages, many (most?) successful Korean men had a side piece.

My conclusion: This was compartmentalized. They could be competent, honest, ethical, and successful at what they did.

And they got their freak on.

This is no longer a deal-breaker to me, as we have seen horrible people in their personal life be great people in their professional life.

In the end, I’m going to judge him only by what he does for American interests, which also serves my interests.

American interests… yea right… here are your American interests – much higher costs for just about everything. Talk about self-destruction..

“Trump’s Tariffs: 23 Items Expected to Get More Expensive”

You don’t really see the pattern yet, do you.

Everything Trump is going to do is going to be bad.

If he said no tarrifs, the headlines would be, “Trump destroys American industry.”

During his last presidency, things were better… for everybody… such as record low black unemployment.

And speaking of unqualified appoibtments.

I really shouldn’t be writing this. Fuck it.

however he has to be one of the least qualified Secretary of Defenses we have ever had

And how many wars have our previous highly ‘qualified’ Secretaries of Defense won? And why does it take a supposedly least qualified nominee to point out the very obvious reality that a woke military is making us weaker, not stronger? And etc… And etc… And etc… I can go on and on and on about the latest string of highly ‘qualified’ SecDefs being failures, but that’s almost besides the point.

The position of SecDef has little to do with tactical or strategic brilliance, or even military experience. It definitely has little to do with ‘credentials’ which ironically, had Hegseth been in good standing with the left, they would’ve been noting his highly qualifying ‘education’ and academic work.

It has everything to do with managing the political mission of the military (we lie to ourselves all the time about the military being apolitical and that’s partly how we got into this mess*). Thus it helps to have a SecDef who can recognize obvious realities, speak truth about them, and keep the political mission sane rather than insane. Hegseth may very well be the most qualified SecDef nominee we’ve had in a long time if only because of his integrity.

*When leadership creates a work environment where one must be blind to reality, you select for those who are blind, those who lie about being blind, and those who are outright crazy and believe in delusions. Worse, you may even end up selecting for evil people who don’t care about their lying.

We talk all the time about the necessity of integrity in the military, but there is very little integrity in the current officer corps. Breeches of integrity like ‘pit love’ have become an epidemic, and that’s just the surface of the problem. Lying has become widespread, and no one talks bluntly anymore, hiding behind layers of bureaucratic doublespeak jargon for fear of legal ramifications of causing offense, yes, offensiveness is a prosecutable charge these days.

Compare the number of service awards of our Generals won in WW2 to our Generals today. Talk to our retired officers who fought in Vietnam and compare them to our officers today. Fuck, the older ones even look better, these retired 80 year old killers are more likely to be within height and weight standards than our increasingly chubby military.

And it gets better…

Matt “I like them young” Gaetz for attorney general.
Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence.

LOL

Stephen, remember, you are not allowed to have an opinion.

Too many times, you have run your trap, which is fine, but you were fully unable to back up your yapping… which was demonstratably incorrect.

Since there is nothing behind your noise, it means nothing.

So nobody cares if you snicker over Trump’s appointments. You don’t matter.

By the way, these are great appointments.

Why?

Because last time, he appointed some professionals…

…they were professional at screwing him and protecting the Establishment.

Now, he is going to bring in different type of people.

We don’t know if they will be better, but it will be hard for them to be worse.

I’m very optimistic about the task force to review the performance of sitting flag officers too. Like shooting fish in a barrel at this point, this will be very beneficial.

“By the way, these are great appointments.”

How great of an appointment is it, when one of them is a known pedophile buying sex from teenaged girls? Obviously, Trump wants a loyalist ‘yes’ man in all the key appointments. And appointing criminals who should be in prison, to the positions, will ensure the criminals stay loyal to him. The US has turned into a complete joke. It should step down from being the world leader, as you are no longer fit to be the leader.

Secretary of Defenses, or Secretaries of Defense?

No need to get all wound up, all of these cabinet-level appointments require senate approval, which there’s no guarantee Hegseth is going to get. Hegseth has a lot of opposition in the congress, so Trump would be wise to have someone else in mind for the SecDef position in case this nomination doesn’t get senate approval.

Just heard that Hung Cao may be Trump’s Deputy Sec. of Defense!
(video below for those not familiar with him, think it was posted in this forum before though, maybe by GI)

Chickendick, get that Trump cock out of your throat before you choke to death. No charge for that tip, BTW. And you haven’t lived in the states forever so you have no skin in the game like the rest of us who actually have to put up with the clown show. And, for the last 10 years or so, your only outlet has been this forum where your fellow racists applaud your posts. You mean nothing. So fuck off.

Oh my, going by the downvotes, you just pissed off the Trumpers who can’t accept the truth.

Stephan – You read me wrong, I am in near total agreement with what Pete Hegseth has stated he wants to do, I just don’t particularly like or trust serial adulterers and cheaters. Liz’s point about pentagon nervousness is on the mark, even those of us federal employees in the administrative agencies are highly nervous about what is to come after January 20th. I see Hegseth being easily confirmed and I expect him to remove nearly every O-6/GS15 and above in the pentagon, DEI becomes DIE career wise.

But, yes, America needs him somewhere where he can keep an eye on communists, foreign and domestic.

I know for certain that Trump made the Pentagon folks very nervous the first time around. This time he knows much more than he did then.
My spouse was an installation commander when trump was president, and it was a joy to run a wing under Trump with Goldfein as chief of staff. Can’t imagine how terrible it would be with Biden (or Harris).

@GIKorea, Anyone with institutional experience knows how to run the institution. Trump isn’t picking for running and maintaining the institutions. His goal is complete regime change and restructuring the executive branch with or without the other two branches of government. A level of executive power not seen since FDR/Lincoln. For that he needs to purge the military (along with the rest of the government), and Hegseth, with the advise of the “warrior board”, will do just fine with that.

McNamara told Kennedy that he didn’t know anything about government, to which Kennedy replied: “We can learn our jobs together. I don’t know how to be president either”

Hegseth is a pretty smart guy with proven leadership experience, he’ll do just fine.

Last time, Trump picked experienced professionals and they all turned out to be Deep State backstabbers.

The best thing to happen to America was the 2020 steal. Trump had 4 years to think about what went wrong and how to manage it.

This time, his priority is loyalty.

Let’s see what happens.

Protip: Don’t leave the White House for the next 4 years, don’t fly, and don’t trust the Secret Service or FBI.
