Justice Ministry Imposes a Travel Ban on President Yoon

It looks like South Korea will not have its president attending any international events any time soon:

President Yoon Suk Yeol was placed under a travel ban Monday pending an investigation into treason and other charges related to his short-lived imposition of martial law last week, with political turmoil deepening over Yoon’s political future.

The ban was imposed by the justice ministry shortly after the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) said it had submitted a request for the order.

Yoon has been booked as a suspect in simultaneous investigations conducted by the police, the prosecution and the CIO over his surprise declaration of martial law last Tuesday.

BTW, McCarthy was almost 100% right about communists but seemingly lied about everything else.

McCarthy was right about communists in USG because FBI was right. During WW2 a lot of back channels were open with the Soviets, when it became clear the Soviets had their own ideas, about the post war order, FBI director gave a list of known comminists to McCarthy. A lot of this stuff is now declassified.

He will never give up because he lives in his own world surrounded by rightwing Youtube channels and drinking binges every night. Support for him is evaporating, except for the 105 members of the PPP party holdouts. I predict one of two things below.

  1. Suicide.
  2. A shoot-out with the national police when they go to arrest him (he has surrounded himself with heavily armed body guards).

The police are in charge of finding evidence against him, until a newly formed special prosecutors office which is being assembled, takes over. Neither the current prosecutor’s office (all appointed Yoon loyalists), and the National Police (some key heads also appointed by Yoon) are trusted to do their jobs, so they are assembling a new team.

When they go and take down Yoon, they will probably send the police along with the military, as Yoon is considered extremely unpredictable and thus very dangerous.
