|It looks like Korea is learning how to get in the good graces of the Trump administration, invest in America:

Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung listens, as U.S. President Donald Trump delivers remarks at the White House, in Washington on March 24, 2025 in this photo released by Reuters.
South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group said Monday it will invest US$21 billion in the United States through 2028, as U.S. President Donald Trump is ramping up tariff pressure to boost domestic manufacturing.
The group’s Executive Chair Euisun Chung, alongside Trump and Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, made the announcement on the plan that includes an investment of $8.6 billion for the automotive sector, $6.1 billion for the steel industry, component parts and logistics, and $6.3 billion for future industry sectors and energy.
“Today, I am pleased to announce an additional $21 billion in new investment over the next four years — our largest U.S. investment ever. A key part of this commitment is our $6 billion investment to strengthen the U.S. supply chain (for) steel and parts for automobiles,” he said at the White House.

Have you said “Thank You”?
Also, you ingrates had better wear a suit.
Hyundai will make money. Unlike the unemployed incel whinerbots.

Ah but @setnaffa, you should be careful with your words, considering that your Social Security checks will stop coming in when the Social Security Administration implodes, thanks to your elected President Trump and President Musk who bought the Presidency from Trump.
Silly little whinerbot… you actually think (a) DOGE will harm SocSec and (b) I am relying on it for my retirement.
Does it hurt to have your head up your ass that far?
Or are you just whinging because your allowance was cut?
Plus, no one gets checks any more, it’s all direct deposit.
(a) DOGE will harm SocSec
Social Security Benefits Could Face ‘Interruption’ Within 30 Days – Newsweek
“Ultimately, you’re going to see the system collapse and an interruption of benefits,” O’Malley told CNBC of the DOGE cuts. “I believe you will see that within the next 30 to 90 days.”
(b) I am relying on it for my retirement.
If you are not relying on Social Security for your retirement then are the Russians and the Chinese taking care of your retirement?
Plus, no one gets checks any more, it’s all direct deposit.
How do you know when you are not relying on Social Security for your retirement?

I remember when Musk paid too much for Twitter and fired 80% of the staff while advertisers were engaged in a coordinated boycott.
…pushes fast forward button…
Twitter in now valued at what he paid (44 billion), it got BETTER with less staff, advertisers came back because it has a large audience with bots and fakes actively purged and that is more important than idealogy…
…and the real reason he bought it which the Little People who whine that the world’s richest man is stupid can’t conceive of…
He used Twitter’s 44 billion in data to create Grok and xAI…
…which is now valued atound 75 billion.
So Musk had his cake and ate it too.
This is why rich people are rich and you are eating Hamburger Helper… again.
Now, if you look at what he did with Twitter, what makes you think he couldn’t do it with Social Security?
Is there any way you could see him cutting redundent staff, streamlining processes, stopping fraud/waste/abuse, providing better service… etc?
Could you see that?
Or do you belive everyone involved will do anything necessary to make sure Granny gets her check rather than political suicide?
Smart people don’t even get an elevated heartbeat when you post fear pr0n.
Silly person who ignores a very important fact. Musk’s companies get most of their revenues from the Government of the United States through state subsidies and unfairly given contracts. Just because these billionaires robbed from the poor, it doesn’t make them smart.
Next, you’ll be lying to me that Musk founded Tesla.
Musk, about two weeks ago, commented: “Social Security is just a ponzi scheme and a scam”.
This is coming from the government official, that has sweeping power to cut.
Doesn’t sound he’s going to keep the program going.
“Musk’s companies get most of their revenues from the Government of the United States through state subsidies and unfairly given contracts.”
Perhaps you can launch military satallites and rescue Boeing astronauts?
Musk offers the government excellent products and reasonable prices. He makes his money streamlining his operations and cutting his costs rather than selling $5000 hammers.
As for his opinion on Social Security, he is absolutely right.
Sure, he could cut it up and be hated by a couple of genrations of old people with absolutely no gain to himself.
But based on his history of taking broken systems and making successful systems, he will probably choose that response.
Yelling about a less likely scenario like it is a profound statement makes you seem unintelligent.
Let me ask you this. Can you give me one criticism of Musk and Trump duo? Or in your mind, are they infallible?
Project 2025 laid it all out. They will get rid of all social welfare programs. This isn’t Musk’s ideal.
It’s the ideal of the far-right Heritage Foundation, in which the organization is intending to experiment with radical government. Musk and Trump (and all the stupid blue collar MAGAs that support them) are useful stooges, or the front faces for the Heritage Foundation. It’s a rule by Oligarchy made up of a few billionaires who own technology companies. If you had read this 900-page document, a blueprint plan that they’ve laid out for America, you would know this. In their plan, democracy, education, research, and free competition have no room in their new vision of the world. It’s a Squid Game, a Hunger Game, all dystopia. You American Maga fools are destroying your own country.
I want to find out what the whinerbots are drinking.
It sure seems to help them write amazing fiction.
I didn’t hear any “Thank You” from you. Do you even know how to say “Thank You”?
I feel like you know you have been told to yell about Project 2025 but you really don’t know anything about it.
The evidence is that you clearly don’t know their exact position on Social Security. You only know a misleading talking point about it.
Then you whine about issues that aren’t even in their platform.
About 80% of their platform are clear things that America needs and the majority of voters want. The message is correct regardless of who says it.
These are issues Trump and Musk are doing something about.
But just becase Trump’s agenda and Project 2025’s agendas overlap, doesn’t mean he is working for them.
This is the old Both You and Hitler Drink Water fallacy.
We can discuss the specifics of Project 2025’s individual platform points if you want. It won’t be for you. You are a tool of those who do not have your best interests in mind. But it will inform the smart people in the room.
Keep in mind, you are in the wrong forum to complain about America First.
Trump announces 25% tariffs on all cars not made in America.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly341xr45vo
That will just about shut down Ford, GM, and Stellantis..and tack on about $25,000 on average price of a car for American consumers. All three have heavy operations in Canada and Mexico. Americans can start going back to driving the horse and buggy.
Even if Hyundai moves all its production to the US, that will take at least two or three years. So much for Hyundai’s attempt to escape the tariffs. The joke’s on them. I knew this was what would happen.
Fine with me. Trump wants to commit Hari Kari self-immolation, and hurt the American economy and consumers… this should put a nail in the coffin of the US economy.
I can see foreign investors dumping the US stocks and the US dollar, and fleeing to the Euro which is rising to become the new replacement to the US dollar. The US doesn’t deserve its reserve currency status. Reserve currency demands political/economic stability, economic openness, rule of law, democracy, stable peace, and credibility. Currently the US has none of these because the US doesn’t want to do any business with the rest of the world. But good riddance.
