Ft. Polk Soldier Dies After Being Sprayed and Tasered

I wonder if people stationed on Ft. Polk will riot, loot, and burn the post down?

A soldier who fled law enforcement officials investigating a reported break-in at on-base housing at Fort Polk, Louisiana, died after he was apprehended, according to a Tuesday news release from the base.

The soldier, who has not been identified, reportedly matched the description given to military police of an individual “allegedly trying to illegally enter a home that was not his residence,” according to the release. The suspect fled when MPs approached him, then resisted arrest and finally was apprehended after law enforcement officials reportedly used both pepper spray and a stun gun.

After handcuffing the soldier, MPs saw that the individual was “in medical distress,” per the release, and emergency medical personnel who were on scene “began attempting life-saving measures.” The soldier was taken to a medical facility, where he was later pronounced dead.  [Army Times]

You can read more at the link, but on the Army Times Facebook page someone claiming to live near where the incident happened said that the soldier was drunk and went to the wrong house.  The article claims there were multiple MPs at the scene so how come they could not wrestle this guy down and handcuff without using a taser?

We still assume a romantic era of policing that may have long since past. Police today are trained to expect the maximum possible threat in any encounter and to respond for the least risk to themselves. The whole idea of what used to be called community policing may be going out with greater separation and distrust between police and their communities. It may have been only a matter of luck that the Osan town patrol incident didn’t turn out as this one did.

Is it time for all military police to also start wearing body cameras?

The seemingly/alleged criminal boy’s family will receive USA gov’t funded benefits for life(many, many, many, years), really, what’s the big deal? Crime pays within the biggest USA socialized dept.(jobs) that exists. He probably wasn’t even American, he was probably just promised American citizenship after his 4 years of “Haha service” but since he was killed during it, who cares, it’s time to pay out anyway aye! Stupid MP’s!!

Tbone always has a can of spray paint handy.

Did anyone check to see if the dead soldier was painted gold?

It might be a clue.

I think people who enter the country illegally shouldn’t be called illegal aliens. They should have a clearly established path to citizenship.

I don’t think U.S. Army soldiers who are legal permanent residents should be able to have slightly expedited citizenship as an incentive to their enlistment.

Because really, what have they done for our country except be maimed or killed in combat every once in a while?

But those undocumented immigrants though……they have contributed so much.

Also, I don’t worry about completely porous borders to the north and south that terrorists could exploit. Al-qaeda has been defeated and there is no reason to believe any other “JV” group could fill their shoes and pose a threat to the country.

I wonder how awkward it went when the casualty assistance office/nco visited the NOK for notification at 0600 the next day.
