Seoul Mayor Announces that Star Trek 3 Will Be Filmed In Seoul

Via Korea Noodles comes this news:

Star Trek 3 will be filmed in Seoul, Mayor Park Won-soon said Monday.

“Today I met with Jeffrey Chernov, producer of Star Track 3, at the Paramount Pictures Studio and agreed to film a portion of the upcoming movie in Seoul,” Park said in his Facebook post.

Assuming they go forward with the plan to shoot in Seoul, this is significant as it will be the first Star Trek film to do any shooting outside of United States.

TrekMovie has already reported that the upcoming Star Trek film will not be Earth focused, so it appears that the Korean location will be standing in for some kind of alien location, or possibly a (non-Earth) Starfleet location. [Korea Noodles]

They should show Spock, Kirk, and Bones walking up Hooker Hill in Itaewon. (if it’s still there)

Don’t see why it wouldn’t be. The Golden Gate Bridge can be seen from Starfleet Academy.
Would Spock’s green blood protect him from STDs?
Well, maybe not, but the reflective belt should!

I found the rest of Mayor Park Won-son’s comments but I don’t have the link on-hand right now, here:
“…portion of the upcoming movie in Seoul, at first he said “No, why would we film Star Trek here? It’s a film about space, this is a waste of my time.” But then I showered him with plastic surgery h00kers, threw a tantrum even the PyeongChang committee would’ve been proud of, and then finally just started stuffing his pockets with taxpayer funded bribes. I assure my constituents that while we lack America’s ingenuity or China’s cheapness, we are unmatched in our insecurity and diesre for other people to look at what we’re doing.”

By the way are any of these new Treks actually going to be set in space? I’d wager less than half of the settings in the first two weren’t on the surface of a planet. This reboot’s sukked tribble terdz so far.

MTB Rider, of course it would. But I doubt he would indulge. Likely just say it was “fascinating”.
