I just want to know why a couple years ago I had to buy these new expensive PT's with reflective material embedded and I've still got to wear this stupid orange and yellow vest over the top of the reflective material.
Ahhh…
LEDs are getting pretty cheap these days…
…won't be long before everyone will be required to wear some sort of flashing light array (in every color to satisfy ADA requirements for colorblind Americans).
Sooner or later, somebody is going to get hit by a car regardless of their reflective belt… and some "leader" is going to take the next logical step in showing his Commitment to Safety.
It's just going to take Nichia hiring General Halftrack when he retires to seal the deal.
J!
The other thing I don't understand is that some posts have the orange vest, others have the yellow reflective belt, other have an orange, and when I was at Carson they had a blue one. Even more ridiculous is that the roads are sealed off when doing PT so you can't get hit by car, so why the reflective belts?

[…] the uniform is that the top t-shirt is bright which should in theory eliminate any need for the ridiculous reflective belt and road guard vests we wear in the US […]
They have the battle at LZ X-RAY year wrong. It was 1965, not 1967. Is there a way to correct that?
Yes, reflective belts are stupid. I am deployed of OIF, and they make us wear them at guardmount (USAF Security Forces). And walking from our vehicles to the chow hall at night, because base safety doesnt consider us on duty when we eat. The general chairforce is clueless…
There is no block to check on the "leaders" application that asks if you are stupid, and idiot or imbecile. I have never bought into "officers are leaders". They are just as stupid as any other demography.
-However
The reason everyone has to wear the belts and vests are because of more stupidity. When a soldier BLINDLY steps out into traffic and gets run over, people have to ask why. The driver is not going to say "I'm stupid and I wasn't paying attention to driving my car" they are going to say "I didn't see him". The people who make the decisions for the Army have to say they did something to mitigate the risks so they promulgate the wearing of the reflective belts. I say these people are STUPID because they allow the STUPID children of STUPID service members to BLINDLY WALK OUT INTO TRAFFIC AT THE STUPID CHILDREN'S SCHOOL CALLES SAHS. USAG-Y installed a stop sign to mandate that cars come to a stop. I guess its cheaper than trying to find someone who can teach stupid children that a 4,000 pound car hurts when it runs over you. So stupid soldiers, family members and children (most children) continue to blindly walk into traffic believing traffic will automatically yield the RoW.
Some may say Lemmy, you don't know what your talking about!
Well, I'm 45 years old. I grew up in a city and never wore a helmet or orange vest when I rode my Schwinn Stingray to include to and from school. Most times I never wore shoes either and other times I held a slurpee in one of my hands. I've never been in a car wreck and I've driven since the age of 15. I've also ridden a motorcycle since the age of 7 and have NEVER CRASHED. I've driven in Seoul for 5 years, Thailand, Germany at 150mph, Japan, and all over the US. I've avoided a lot of crashes because I'm paying attention. Most of all, I've never been hit by a car.
Now your asking "Hey Lemmy, whats your secret?"
A: I take responsibility for my actions. Must have something my mom and dad said.
If this is the way they want it, then why to we even wear camouflage, we might as well wear glow in the dark reflective jump suits. We are in the military, we're not grade school crossing guards.
