Hahaha, thanks for the link but FMS has good taste on THAT one?
THAT'S funny 😉
I thought the woman in the picture had pretty good casual look going. She looked better than Kim Yun-jin in her picture. Anybody else have any thoughts on Feetman Seoul's taste?

Kim Yun-jin — no comment. I'm already trashing someone 😉
The Dongdaemun girl just looked trashy to me. It's cute and pretty much ubiquitous here, but also trashy.
We can summon FMS over here. LOL, he knows what I think.
Oh, come on, now.
I don't know about "trashy." I think the combination of casual and heels is pretty normal, and while it might come off in a certain way to American eyes (especially high heels and a short skirt), I think it doesn't send off quite the same signals in Korea that she might if she were walking down the street in the US.
"Street Styles" is supposed to represent typical street styles in Korea, and I appreciated that she agreed to pose for us, without even knowing in advance what the venue really was. I appreciate that she did.
I think, even by more racy Korean standards, she doesn't approach anything near "trashy." A cap, t-shirt, denim skirt, and a generally casual/sporty look is the point here, it seems, which is far from some of the more "trashy" looks one might describe in Seoul, such as exceptionally short skirt, extreme high heels, gawdy neon colos, revealing tops, or accessories that overdo it.
And rather than describe my subjects in such…negative…terms, I'd rather any nasty adjectives be directed at me for choosing the subject, or a critique of the clothes that is a bit more detailed, rather than sum up as just "trashy."
She was actually quite a kind and friendly young lady, and I feel bad about any criticism, since the point is to allow the picture to represent something about Seoul/Korean fashion, rather than getting into more unfriendly descriptions.
I know that I am obviously more sensitive to these thing because I am the photographer, and readers don't need to hold themselves to such concerns, but I do hope that people will be more positive when thinking about how much these everyday people are offering up the kind of social trust that you don't see that often on the streets of Korea, and that they're kind of putting themselves out there.
Sure, she may not be some people's style, but I don't think "trashy" is either a very accurate description given the cultural context, nor do I just think it to be very nice.
ExpatJane – let's play nice! Since I have impeccable taste.
😉
In any case, thanks for coming to visit, everyone!
Look I've met some VERY nice people who have made questionable fashion choices. Hell, I have a pair of pink Ugg boots that I really shouldn't have ever bought much less worn with enthusiasm.
The look could be trashier for sure, but as it is, it's trashy. It's not street walker. It's not working girl. It's just trashy.
One of the commentors on FMS had already broken it down bit by bit, so I didn't feel the need to repeat her analysis.
As for cultural responses, that look gets similar responses here as it does back home. I've seen it happen many times. As you say, you're capturing a slice of what we see on the streets of Seoul.
That look? = Cute girl in trashy outfit.
