Unless it is teaching them survival and self defense techniques, I don’t see how that class would protect those students from the abuses of any future war.

I can’t imagine why a class would be needed.
Any training could be summed up with “Just shut your mouth and do what the man says if you don’t want a rifle butt upside the head.”
