Bridge reconnects villages in decades
Seen here is a newly-built bridge over Paro Lake linking Wolmyeong and Sangmuryong Villages in the rural county of Yanggu, about 175 kilometers northeast of Seoul. The bridge opened on Aug. 31, 2022, and reconnected the villages, which have been separated for 78 years since the construction of nearby Hwacheon Dam in 1944. Villagers had used boats to come and go between them. (Yonhap)
