Playboy Ranks the Top 10 Hottest Korean Women

So does anyone disagree with the rankings on this list?:

Honey Lee

Playboy has picked 11 hottest Korean women, with Miss Korea-turned-actress Lee Ha-nui topping the list.

Social consumer website Ranker listed the 11 Korean celebrities based on 1,300 online votes.

Lee, better known as Honey Lee, made her debut when she won the 2006 Miss Korea beauty contest. She has since been regarded in the nation’s sexiest icon.

Lee has also starred in several movies, including “Tazza: The Hidden Card,” which was released last year.

Sexy diva Lee Hyo-ri took second place. Since debuting as a member of pop girl group Fin. K.L. in 1998, she has gained nationwide popularity as one of the hottest singers. But she has kept a low profile after marrying in 2013.

Actress Kim Sa-rang third. She is famous for starring in the drama “Secret Garden.”  [Korea Times]

You can read the rest at the link, but Lee Hyo-ri is still my favorite.

North Korean Pleasure Squad Reportedly Upgraded

Who knows in regards to the accuracy of this report, but there is probably a grain of truth to the report:

North Korean authorities are apparently recruiting fresh members of the so-called “pleasure squad” of female entertainers for leader Kim Jong-un after disbanding the group that used to entertain his father.

One source said officials fired the women who used to work at Kim Jong-il’s summer villas. They are currently staying at the Koryo Hotel in Pyongyang undergoing security training.

The women were apparently made to sign a pledge of secrecy in return for money and gifts.

Women who worked as maids got US$2,000 and home appliances and entertainers double that amount.

Kim junior apparently shunned the summer villas before he came to power but developed a taste for them and the pliable maidens that come with them when he was being treated for gout last year.  [Chosun Ilbo]

Why are Korean Female Golfers So Good?

Well according to the Korean female LPGA players it is because they practice more:

The world’s best female golfers are gathered at Mission Hills Golf Club this week for the first major of the 2015 LPGA Tour season — the ANA Inspiration.

It’s become a familiar sight while walking along the driving range and seeing almost half of the stalls filled by South Korean golfers.

Many argue it’s just a numbers game and with more players from a certain country, the more you’ll see them on leaderboards.

“It’s not intimidating to me at all,” says American Cristie Kerr who became world No. 10 after her win from the previous week. “It’s pretty simple really. They seem to outnumber a lot of other factions on the tour.”

The 37-year-old veteran is responsible for snapping the streak of six wins by Korean-born golfers after topping Lydia Ko at the Kia Classic.

Granted it’s not Kerr’s job to break down the demographics of the field, but at the moment there are 25 South Korean players who hold an LPGA Tour card compared to 45 Americans.

24 of those 25 are in the field this week while the number of Americans is just north of 35.

After all the theories flying around about Korean golfers, it only made sense to just ask them directly.

“It’s all practice” says world No. 13 Mirim Lee. “Golfers from Korea practice so much and the KLPGA is a really good tour. When I was an amateur I would wake up everyday at 5 a.m. and practice until 8 or 9 p.m.”

“In my opinion Korean players practice a lot more,” says world No. 2 Inbee Park, the highest ranked South Korean player on tour.  [Korea Times]

Study Finds that 60% of Korean Females Drink Alcohol

This number has got to be deflated because it seems pretty low to me:

Six out of every 10 women in their 20s living in Seoul drink alcohol and 10 percent of them are heavy drinkers, according to a recent survey.

The survey, conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and released Tuesday, showed 64.8 percent of women said they drank alcohol more than once a month in the past year, up from 57.7 percent in 2008.

Among them, 9.7 percent said they drank more than five glasses of soju, which contains between 17 and 20 percent alcohol, more than twice a week.

Drinking is not just a habit for young women, however. A total of 45.1 percent of all female respondents said they drink, up from 40.8 percent in 2008; the drinking rate for men in the city increased by 1.8 percentage points during the same period.  [Korea Times]
