Korean Sex Dolls Causing Scares for Garbage Collectors

I think this qualifies as a first world problem:

While the increasing imports of sex dolls serve to comfort lonely men in Korea, they’re also frightening some men, particularly garbage collectors.

According to the Kookmin Ilbo, a Korean-language daily newspaper, a garbage collector recalled his frightening encounter with a sex doll at work.

“I saw a bit of hair in the trash pile and pulled at it assuming it to be a wig,” the newspaper quoted him as saying in an online post. “What I got was a beheaded woman. Can you imagine how much that frightened me at first (assuming it was a real dead body)?”

He went on to say that instead of throwing away the doll as a whole, “the owner dismembered the doll and wrapped the parts separately. The head wasn’t wrapped tight enough. When I saw the decapitated head, my heart stopped. My hands are still shivering. Those wishing to buy sex dolls, please think also about how to properly dispose of them.”

It’s not the first such incident, according to the newspaper.

South Korea Scraps Ban on Imported Sex Dolls

It looks like people who like to get their freak on with sex dolls in South Korea will soon have more variety to choose from:

The government’s latest decision to scrap a ban on imports of life-size sex dolls has reignited debates on sex doll experience cafes where customers pay money to enjoy the products in a private space.

The Korea Customs Service announced on Monday it will lift the ban on the import of complete-bodied sex dolls, ending a years-long dispute with importers of the products. Although there are currently no laws specifically prohibiting the import of sex dolls, customs authorities had been seizing most of them, citing a clause that bans the import of goods that may harm public morals.

The customs agency’s move came after a series of court rulings sided with the importers by saying that the use of sex dolls should be left to individual discretion. The authorities, however, stressed that child-like sex dolls and those resembling certain people will continue to be banned.

The lifting of import bans came as good news to owners of sex doll experience shops that have been increasing here in recent years. These shops offer customers a chance to enjoy the sex dolls at a private place. Now that the import ban is lifted, the shops will be able to provide their clients with more product options, not limited to domestically manufactured ones.

But the operation of such businesses in Korea is still in a legal gray zone, with opponents describing them as a “new form of sex trafficking.”

Sex Doll Cafes Begin Opening in South Korea

I wonder if these cafe’s market themselves as a COVID safe juicy girl experience?:

South Korean parents of young students are reacting nervously to the recent openings of sex doll experience shops or cafes in their neighborhoods around the country.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling last June in favor of the importation of life-size sex dolls, several hundreds of new businesses have reportedly opened nationwide offering in-store experiences with the sex toys.

South Korean Supreme Court Upholds Ruling to Allow Import of Sex Dolls

I learn something new every day, the importation of sex dolls in South Korea used to be illegal until a recent Supreme Court ruling allowed their importation. Now activists are protesting to stop their import:

More than 200,000 people have signed a petition against the import of life-size sex dolls into Korea.

As of Wednesday, more than 210,000 people signed the petition on the Cheong Wa Dae website, a month after the Supreme Court upheld a lower court decision to allow the import of such dolls.

“They are not ordinary sex toys,” the petitioner wrote. “A life-size sex doll resembles a woman’s body in every detail. It can even be customized to fit an individual’s needs for hairstyle, facial structure, birthmarks or anything.

“Nowadays, deepfake celebrity porn videos can easily be found online. There’s no guarantee that sex dolls won’t be used for such purposes. People may be shocked to find sex dolls that look just like them. If that happens, who will take responsibility for the damage?”
